Job Description:

Purpose of Department:

- Management, monitoring of RWA Reporting within Regulatory Reporting including contribution towards the development and implementation of BASEL regulations within the Group Frame work under PRA requirements

Impact on the Business:

- The quality of the Reports generated must be to a very high standard. The RWA reporting framework that exists is critical to the sustainability of HSBC's business.

- HSBC operates to very strict reporting timetables, driven by external regulators deadlines. Report Submission MUST adhere to the timetable set out by GMO Regulatory Reporting

Typical KPIs and Targets:

- No material post submission errors identified.

- Full, accurate and timely explanations provider of data reported.

- No Late Submissions

Customers / Stakeholders:

- Coordinate and support Regulatory Reporting team, provide guidance and act as subject matter expert (SME) with regard to Market Risk & Counterparty Credit Risk RWA reporting for GB&M business under BASEL and PRA

- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Global Markets products (ie.derivatives, repo/reverse repo & stock borrow and lending) and Value at Risk (VaR)

- Drive performance to agreed service levels and manage customers- expectations in a timely and professional manner.

- Establish and maintain effective relationship with business areas and identify areas of service improvements by implementing regular calls and feedback mechanism.

- Clearly documented and communicated deliverables schedule finalized in advance of reporting periods, such that performance can be measured.

- Satisfactory feedback from customers during reporting period and subsequent de-briefs.

Leadership & Teamwork:

- Drive performance in team to required standards.

- Maintain high level of employee engagement.

- Effective communication with team members on organizational strategy and goals required for respective roles and responsibilities.

- Create an environment within the team which fosters free sharing of knowledge and ideas

- Feedback from customers on team and individual members- performances.

Plan and improved process times whilst maintaining high level of service delivery, and positive feedback from customers on the demonstrated skill level of team (as evidenced by the speed and quality of their planned work and ad-hoc requests)

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

- Adherence to Group policies, audit, controls and compliance requirements. It is imperative that the role maintains a highly effective SOX-compliant control framework.

- Operational capability must be maintained all year round given the frequency of reporting periods (monthly plus additional requirements quarterly, half-yearly and annually).

- The role will need to manage accordingly to ensure that sufficient numbers of capable staff are in place to deliver to reporting requirements.

- Continually assess the operational risks inherent to the process, taking account of operating procedures, staff movements, legal & regulatory requirements

- Ensure BCP plan is documented, agreed with Business Partners and tested for all the processes as agreed

Typical KPIs and Targets:

- No control deficiencies identified during external/internal audit review, or reviews conducted by Group Internal Audit or other regulatory audits.

- No negative impact on quality or timeliness of data submissions, or the control framework from operational deficiencies.

- Satisfactory rating in Internal Audits

Skills/Experience Required:

Required:

- Qualified accountant with 3 yrs. or MBA Finance from a reputed institute with 4-5 yrs. experience in Reporting/ Analysis

- Excellent communication skills, including experience of explaining complex technical matters simply and succinctly

- Team management skill is a must

- Good understanding on derivative products, Value at Risk (VaR), underlying risk assessments viz., market risk, credit risk & operational risk.

- Knowledge in Marcos, SQL will have an added advantage

- Experience that demonstrates ability to learn and apply complex/technical rules/frameworks, for example Basel 2, product/model valuation etc.

- Previous employment with a Financial Institution

- Experience working in/with an organisation that handles complex products (i.e. complexity of accounting, valuation, reporting, risk assessment etc.)

- Experience of working with colleagues cross-border in a multinational organization

- Working/detailed knowledge of Operational framework/rules

Desired:

- Previous employment with a Financial Institution in Regulatory Reporting with experience in Basel II, Basel III, COREP & PRA reporting

- Experience working in/with an organization that handles complex products like derivatives (i.e. complexity of accounting, valuation, reporting, risk assessment etc.)

- Experience of working with colleagues cross-border in a multinational organization

- Working/detailed knowledge of Operational framework/rules

Today, it comprises a team of highly accomplished professionals handling a diverse set of finance functions including Management Reporting, Regulatory Reporting & Product Control, and Balance Sheet Control to the routine Accounting, Transaction Processing and Accounts Payable to HSBC Group entities in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Management of Risk (GHR / FIM requirements)

- Manage production of Market Risk RWAs reporting as per VaR model in accordance with the BASEL Norms and Group Frame work of RWAs

- Ensure all Regulatory Reporting Requirements are considered e.g. Basel II, PRA norms, etc

- Any process re-engineering must comply with the applicable control environment
