- Develop new products and product applications to increase the profitability of the company. This includes the management of new projects from conception to commercialization and sustainable product.
- Involved in product innovation/renovation by conducting science based applications work on sensory and analytical parameters and establishing shelf life of products with evidence and, maintaining detailed records and documents.
- Lead and/or support pilot and plant trials both internally and externally as required.
- Support technical R&D functions such as product analysis, improvements, research, and customer support.
- Defining the product specifications and ensuring new product is safe and profitable. Design and implement sensory analysis tests to support product development, such as determining product evaluation parameters and conducting internal and external consumer testing.
- Defining the Product characteristics of safe product by monitoring, and analyzing shelf life of each formulation based on the pH, color intensity, moisture content, water activity and microbial count etc.
- Work with sales and marketing to actively seek and develop technical relationships with customers. Assist customers and sales with technical issues such as formulation, product training, troubleshooting, etc
- Utilize market data to identify new ingredients, trends, formulations, and processing techniques to support new business initiatives.
- Assist manufacturing teams with troubleshooting and resolution of technical problems or opportunities in the plants.
- Coordinate and manage scale-up processes, and oversee production trials and runs at factory and contract manufacturers (if required).
- Work closely with sales and customers to provide technical support utilizing a solutions-oriented approach:
- Understand ingredients, nutritional, and label claims.
- Identify where new ingredients are suitable and work with the purchase team to obtain ingredients that meet all requirements..
- Participate in meetings, conference calls, pilot plant and production trials.
- Working with official food inspection, internal, external audits and hygiene inspections
