The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Director in supporting designated areas of the HR function.
This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, compensation, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, training and development, performance management, onboarding, organizational development, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
- Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
- Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files report annually; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to regulations. Complies with central, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Handles employee relations counselling and exit interviewing.
- Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Maintains compliance with central and state regulations concerning employment.
- Complies with Central, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action.
- Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counselling managers and employees.
- Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.
- Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Work with the Director in the design, implementation or modifications of HRIS solution.
- Make the HRIS platform usable for most users. This involves .reating user accounts for employees, placing these employee accounts on tiered access availability and then offering ongoing training and support on the use of these systems and software.
- Liaison to Finance Department for any HR related payroll issues and procedures
- Monitoring the GMP aspects at shop floor that are applicable to union category workmen as per the terms of the Union Settlement.
- Frequent joint evaluation of GMP aspects followed by the workmen and measuring its level of compliance to determine the entitled payment thereof
- Inculcate the GMP aspects at all levels jointly with HODs
Qualification, Experience & Skill Sets :
- You will have experience of 8-10 years in the role of Human Resources Generalist or a very similar position in a Pharma Company is a must and be able to demonstrate complete understanding of the position.
- A Human Resource Generalist must be able to analyse and present information in such a way that is understood by everyone within the organisation from the Chairman to the cleaning staff.
- You must be extremely well organised and methodical in your approach to problem solving and be able to manage filing/database system.
- Excellent communication skills are a pre-requisite for a HR Generalist as you will be dealing with employees on every level.
- You must understand the legalities of business law in relation to HR and employee employment rights and how to apply them within your day-to-day work, company policy documentation and staff welfare.
- You must be able to operate Microsoft Office and be familiar with any other software pertinent to your industry.
