Job Summary:
The Anticorruption Counsel plays a key role in promoting compliance with global and local anticorruption laws, regulations and policies.
The Anticorruption Counsel supports the Managing Director - Senior Director of Anticorruption with the implementation and management of anticorruption compliance program and serves as a subject matter expert on global anticorruption laws. The Anticorruption Counsel helps the Legal team and the business understand the anticorruption compliance program.
The Anticorruption Counsel will focus on implementing global anticorruption program locally by coordinating with and leveraging the expertise from Geographic Corporate & Compliance Legal Leads. The Anticorruption Counsel will work with outside counsel, as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drives the implementation of global anticorruption compliance program initiatives locally by collaborating with Geographic Corporate & Compliance Legal Leads ("GCCs") around the world to identify, analyze and mitigate anticorruption risks geographically, including:
- Meeting regularly with the GCCs to understand how existing compliance processes are working for the business in each region to ensure the program works effectively and efficiently in practice, understand and mitigate local corruption risk, and increase awareness through targeted trainings, communications, and other resources that support the business and enterprise functions; and
- Reporting back to the global anticorruption compliance team and legal leadership as needed to create a clear line of communication between the global and local anticorruption compliance teams.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on global anticorruption laws and compliance;
- Implements and manages anticorruption compliance program (Leadership; Standards & Controls; Training & Communication; Auditing, Monitoring & Response; and Risk Assessments) with a focus on local anticorruption law compliance;
- Provides objective, focused, practical advice and solutions to businesses and legal professionals regarding compliance with anticorruption laws, Code of Business Ethics, anticorruption policies ("Gifts, Meals, Entertainment & Travel" and "Business Intermediaries"), and all other related policies;
Collaborates with colleagues globally to:
- Provide thought leadership for anticorruption compliance efforts generally by staying abreast of compliance industry best practices and changes in laws and regulations, and
- Assist in the development of related policies to address business and legal requirements; and
- Provides additional support, and assumes additional responsibilities, as may be directed by the Managing Director - Senior Director of Anticorruption.

Relationships:
- Geographic legal leadership and key business leadership;
- Legal, including Ethics & Compliance, Contracting and Ventures & Acquisitions teams, as well as external counsel; and
- Other internal subject matter experts
Qualifications:
- Education: JD required
- Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience as an anticorruption attorney at a global company or law firm.
- Work Requirements: Ability to work with and manage resources remotely; minimal travel required.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Deep knowledge of anticorruption laws and regulatory systems around the world, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, UK Bribery Act and other similar anticorruption laws;
- Knowledge of compliance and ethics framework for global corporations in connection with anticorruption law issues and programs;
- Solid judgment, an ability to prioritize and make decisions, and a high level of common sense, including the ability to see around the corner and spot risks before they materialize;
- Good business acumen, knowledge of business strategy (or similar business strategy at another company);
- Ability to synthesize complex legal analysis into clear recommendations;
- Ability to work effectively with legal and business leaders at around the world;
- Excellent oral and written communications skills; and,
- Fluent in English; proficiency in an additional language is preferred.
