Manager EHS - FMCG - Punjab


Role and Key Accountabilities:

- Achieve operational excellence by delivering the plant EHS KPI within AOP, implement EHS strategies for the site & BU.

- The primary function of this position is to champion and promote occupational health and safety awareness, monitor satisfactory completion of occupational health and safety related actions, including risk assessments and training. Ensuring EHS compliances.

- The Plant EHS Manager will also share good practices across the system on occupational health and safety matters and disseminate information within his/her own areas and across the system as appropriate.

- Supports the EHS teams at other sites in the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety Guidelines, ensuring compliance with , and Local regulatory requirements.

- Proactively identify, propose and develop safety systems and policies to effectively manage EHS risks, opportunities and issues associated with operations & sales in India .

Site Level:

- Ensure compliance with legal obligations and company requirements. Track and regularly report the status of regulatory compliance and improvement initiatives to Plant Manager.

- Maintain the facility EHS compliance records.

- Review statutory regulation changes that impact EHS related compliance.

- Liasioning with statutory authorities related to EHS compliances.

- Be the primary contact for plant-related EHS issues. Assists plant leadership and staff in understanding EHS regulations and standards, including guidance on handling H&S compliance, inspections, and citations. Advise and lead to incorporate environmental health and safety principles and concepts to prevent workplace, operational hazards and environmental impacts

- Advise and assist the plant head and other persons concerned in planning, organizing, controlling and maintaining activities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for work including setting objectives.

- Overall operation & maintenance of waste water treatment plant

- Maintain the area risk register and ensure that risk assessments are completed for all activities with significant risks

- To advise plant head in ensuring that their area has key staff appointed to carry out the health and safety functions e.g. risk assessors, first aiders, fire wardens etc.,

- Contractor Management Plant: Guide in implementing systems for identification, induction and access control working closely with the contractors representatives.

- To receive and investigate reports of accidents, dangerous occurrences and fire damage, determine their causes and make recommendations for improving recurrence prevention and controls.

- Investigate all H&S compliance issues with line supervision and staff. Report findings and recommendations to plant manager and PO1 H&S Lead as required. Guides / assists plant with resolution of health & safety issues

- Prepare and coordinate the external occupational health and safety audit and the audit process. Monitor that audit recommendations are being implemented within agreed timescales.

- Ensure that all employees are inducted, as per the safety procedures.

- Identify the training needs of staff as per the training matrix, and liaise with managers to nominate staff for training courses.

- Monitor staff training, and report on training targets/compliance to the plant manager, departmental heads and PO1 EHS Lead.

- Be an active member of the area health and safety committee. Establish a reporting framework between the various committees, and provide regular update on progress to the plant head/HO.

- Compiles safety documentation as per the Safety Manual requirements for the facility and keep readily accessible to process employees and management. Keeps updated on an annual basis.

BU Level:

- To centrally plan and implement Company Occupational Health and Safety Procedures and develop local work procedures to comply with legal obligations.

- To lead & support field teams in obtaining and maintaining OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 certifications.

- To coordinate with FM Global and monitor the implementation of recommendations at all levels.

- To make governance around MESS (Machinary & Equipment Safety Standards) implementation for the BU

- To develop and review Highly Protected Risk (HPR) status for all the plants and communicate the plan at all levels in the plant for implementation.

- To implement and coordinate the modules of my EHS system in all plants.

- To ensure effective implementation of GEHSMS

- To monitor new H&S trends in legislation and global policy and develop programs in response. Ensure that all H&S standards are implemented and audited to verify full compliance.

- To build a framework for effective implementation of internal auditing plans and programs. Partner with the H&S function and other functions to develop and maintain a region H&S audit Program, including a self-assessment process.

- Monitor safety performance through internal audits and implementation of all the safety systems.

- Prepare periodic reports on progress with management plan and other reports for the health and safety committee and Senior Management Team at HO/Division.

- Reviewing all Accident investigation and RCA (root cause analysis) with the site leadership team and approves the report.

- Support India Region EHS lead in conducting Accident Investigation review with Sector/Global team for significant incidents.

Qualifications / Requirements:

- Well versed with Central and State Statutes

- Experience in handling Fire, Safety management, statutory compliances.

- Preferred candidate in having knowledge of process safety / machinery safety

- Diploma from Any one Institute from 6 Regional Institute of Labour(Req as per Factory act)

Education:


- Possesses a degree of a recognized university or institution in any branch of Engineering or Technology and has practical experience of working in a factory in a supervisory capacity for a period of not less than two years, Or

- Possesses a degree in Physics or Chemistry from a recognized university or institution and has practical experience of working in a factory in a supervisory capacity for a period of not less than five years, Or

- Possesses a recognized diploma in any branch of engineering or technology and has practical experience of working in a factory in a supervisory capacity for a period of not less than five years.

Safety Course:

- Possesses a degree or diploma in industrial safety recognized by the State Government

- Diploma from Any one Institute from 6 Regional Institute of Labour( Req as per Factory act)

Language: knowledge of Punjabi Language
