Roles & Responsibilities:
- Managing a team of competent chartered accountants and a diverse portfolio of corporate clients
- Working with the Partner/Director/Associate Director to finalize client deliverables.
- With assistance from the reporting supervisor, leading and organizing tax planning and tax risk management assignments.
- Advising, litigating and aiding clients with their business tax needs, including providing comprehensive tax solutions for both domestic and international tax issues. Providing tax risk evaluations on transactions that clients have scheduled. Suggestions for possible structural solutions to meet the client's objectives. Manage a client portfolio's tax compliance issues.
- Examining and evaluating important business tax returns and tax situations
- Advice on withholding taxes
- Managing disputes and responding to Internal Revenue Service letters
- Assuring that all corporate tax obligations are met
- Overseeing the examination and adjustment of major tax procedures and systems, as well as the identification of potential for streamlining.
- Keeping track of and managing client relationships
- Identifying new ways to serve existing clients and determining scope and pricing
- Organizing client meetings and actively participating in them
- Actively collaborating with cross-functional teams to give clients with comprehensive tax solutions
- Ensuring that projects are executed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Assisting with practice management strategies and meeting financial targets
- Conducting research and assisting in the preparation of research papers to formulate the firm's position on direct tax and transaction tax issues
- Conducting research and assisting with the creation of technical articles for print and online publications
- Conducting research and developing direct tax thought leadership publications
Desired Profile:
- At least 5-7 years of post-qualification experience in direct tax
- Willingness to travel
- Expertise in completing income tax, company law, and regulatory compliances
- Extensive experience with expatriate taxation
Skill Set:
- Thorough understanding of the Internal Revenue Code, as well as other laws such as the Companies Act and the Federal Emergency Management Act.
- Experience in income tax advisory, litigation, and compliance
- Assignments requiring significant technical research
- Strong Project Management skills
- Knowledge of double tax avoidance agreements
- Experience in/exposure to M&A transactions and FEMA will be an added advantage
- Good communication skills, including legal/technical drafting
- Strong interpersonal skill
