Manager - Communications & Advocacy - NGO

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Communications and Advocacy Manager to join our team working on a vital river basin conservation project in Maharashtra. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in raising awareness, building public support, and advocating for policies that promote the sustainable management of our rivers.

Roles & Responsibilities :

- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and advocacy strategy to achieve project goals.

- Create compelling content, including press releases, social media posts, website copy, and other materials, to raise awareness about the project and its importance.

- Manage media relations, building relationships with journalists and securing positive media coverage.

- Organize and participate in outreach events, public meetings, and conferences to engage stakeholders and garner support.

- Develop and deliver presentations and workshops to educate the public and policymakers about the importance of river conservation.

- Advocate for policies that support the sustainable management of rivers, working with government officials, NGOs, and other stakeholders.

- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications and advocacy efforts, making adjustments as needed.

- Stay up-to-date on current issues and trends related to river conservation and water management.

Mandatory Qualification and Experience :

- Master's degree in communications, public relations, environmental science, or a related field.

- Minimum of 4 years of experience in communications and advocacy, preferably in the environmental sector.

- Proven ability to develop and implement effective communications and advocacy strategies.

- Excellent writing and editing skills.

- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

- Ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

- Experience working with media is a plus.

- Knowledge of the Indian environmental and policy landscape is a plus.

- Passion for river conservation and a commitment to environmental sustainability.
