Responsibilities:
The Manager will be responsible for the supervision of up to 11 direct reports. The Manager will work alongside the other Managers (including those based in the UK), ensuring the busy stock/cash reconciliation and cash management function is completed according to defined procedures. They will be involved in the setting up of the Cash & Control function in India.
- The successful incumbent will need to provide training, motivate the team in a transitional period and have the necessary skills to help design a model which will provide service levels which comply with the expectations of all Cash & Control stakeholders.
- Management including training and development of direct reports
- Conduct regular 1:1's and perform semi-annual appraisals, including the gathering of 360 feedback
- Responsible for HR actions, including recruitment, salary and bonus reviews & performance management
- Perform intra-day verification of key tasks
- Actively ensure all daily internal deadlines are met
- Collaborate with the UK-based Cash and Control team and management to manage workflows and complete tasks
- Ensure there is accurate and timely resolution of all cash and stock exceptions, in accordance with defined priorities
- Ensure teams- accuracy is maintained in relation to all postings made to accounting system
- Build and maintain relationships with both internal departments and external vendors
- Manage the testing and implementation of projects, modifications and tactical solution that impact the department
- Continually review operational procedures to identify areas of process improvement, risk reduction and ensure that the team adheres to them
- Initiate projects, initiatives that minimise risk - both operational and systems
- Resolve queries arising from internal departments
- Support and participate in cross departmental projects
- Manage daily and longer term strategic planning for the team to ensure correct structure and resources are in place
- Communicate effectively to the team to ensure that the wider teams goals are understood and resourced
- Work in conjunction with Senior Management in setting the strategic direction for the team within company framework.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Master or Bachelor degree in Accountancy, Finance, Economy or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Knowledge of reconciliation system such as Fiserv or Smartstream.
- Extensive knowledge of Cash, Securities reconciliation, both Custody and unitised, transaction processing and production of Institutional monthly client reports/reconciliation from an operational perspective.
- Proven Investment Management industry knowledge with emphasis on reconciliations and cash management.
- A good understanding of middle and back office operations in the Investment Management industry including transaction processing, asset servicing, asset valuation and fund accounting.
- A good working knowledge of the English language and a willingness to further improve fluency. Able to communicate effectively with colleagues and internal customers in the UK.
