About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Business Development Manager to spearhead our business growth initiatives in the logistics and supply chain market. This pivotal role will be responsible for driving revenue, expanding our customer base, and strengthening our market presence in the designated region (Mumbai or Delhi). The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in business development, sales leadership, and a deep understanding of customer solution development. Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve Sales Targets: Consistently meet and exceed business development and order booking targets for the assigned region (Mumbai or Delhi).
- Solution Development & Proposal Generation: Collaborate closely with the solutions team to develop comprehensive Statements of Work (SOWs) that effectively address the unique needs and challenges of new customers.
- Market Strategy Execution: Implement and contribute to the development of market strategies aimed at expanding the company's market position, enhancing our service offerings, and increasing our overall capabilities within the region.
- Customized Business Proposals: Create compelling and tailored business proposals that clearly articulate the value proposition of our services and effectively meet the specific requirements of potential customers.
- New Market Identification & Expansion: Proactively identify and explore opportunities to expand into new geographical areas within the region, contributing to the company's overall growth strategy.
- Sales Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment. This includes setting clear objectives, providing coaching and training, and monitoring performance.
- RFI/RFQ/Tender Management: Manage the end-to-end process of responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), and tenders from corporate customers, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Customer Relationship Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer profiles, track engagement, and develop strong, long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
- Business Forecasting & Reporting: Develop and manage accurate business forecasts, providing regular reports on sales activities, pipeline status, and progress towards targets.
- Operational Oversight & Compliance: Oversee smooth operational processes related to new business wins, ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are effectively implemented and adhered to.
- Receivables Management: Monitor and manage receivables, working closely with relevant teams to ensure timely collections and minimize outstanding payments.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure the smooth delivery of services and explore potential partnerships.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 6 to 10 years of progressive experience in business development, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in the logistics or Supply Chain Management (SCM) industry.
- Warehouse Management Expertise: Must possess a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in warehouse management, demonstrating a solid understanding of warehouse operations, processes, and best practices.
- Team Management Skills: Proven experience in leading and managing a sales team is highly desirable and will be considered a significant advantage.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and negotiate with clients at all levels.
- Sales Acumen: Strong understanding of the sales process, with a proven ability to identify opportunities, build relationships, and close deals.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to meet customer needs and achieve business objectives.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address challenges effectively.
- Industry Knowledge: A good understanding of the logistics and supply chain landscape, including industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer requirements.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is a1 plus
