Role Overview:

ROLE : Maintenance Manager

Company Name : For a leading Cement Plant Engineering MNC (German Based)

Location : Nigeria

Role & Responsibility:

- Lead and guide all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities at the plant site including safety, costs, environmental aspects and equipment availability

- Ensure high standards in the provision of maintenance services in alignment with best maintenance practices

- Ensure optimal availability and maintenance of all equipment for achieving the plant’s production targets

- Develop preventive maintenance plans and strategies in cooperation with the production department

- Manage and control a maintenance master plan and schedule in cooperation with the Production Manager and the Process Manager

- Plan and coordinate major maintenance shutdowns

- Control the necessary purchasing requisitions for spare parts

- Manage the necessary materials and services for plant development related to maintenance activities

- Manage the inventories related to the maintenance department objectively

- Participate in all CAPEX related meetings to provide inputs to the development of plant’s performance

- Coordinate with the other departments for smooth functioning of the maintenance department to achieve a high customer satisfaction

- Implement recommendations by the Process Manager and Production Manager to achieve optimized processes

- In charge for the achievement of key performance indicators in the field of maintenance, plant availability, maintenance and inventory costs related agreed targets for the overall plants’ performance

- Prepare and control maintenance budgets and actual costs

- Coordinate and analyse root cause analyses of equipment failure

- Ensure proper lubrication practices are adhered in plant lubrication

- Provide the necessary guidance to the Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Managers, Mechanical and Electrical Supervisors to carry out the maintenance processes timely and efficiently

- Safeguard Human resources by adherence to Health & Safety regulations

- Manage the utilization of manpower, mobile equipment and contractors

- Guide maintenance staff by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and providing development through training

- Identify specific developmental needs and gaps of the maintenance staff

- Train and develop the maintenance staff to provide specific plant knowledge

- Control and guide the daily work

- Ensure a well-organised communication of decisions and current developments

- Implement standardized reporting functions, work instructions for optimising the process chains

- Carry out annual performance reviews of employees

- Continuous reporting to the Plant Manager

- Comply with all relevant company and statutory environmental, health and safety procedures and guidelines

Requirements:

- University degree in mechanical, industrial or electrical engineering

- Several years’ experience in the cement industry as Maintenance Manager

- Profound experience in leading and guiding a maintenance department

- Sound knowledge of preventive maintenance planning and best maintenance practices

- Very good understanding of safety and environmental regulations

- Strategic, organisation and planning skills

- Profound knowledge in cost controlling

- Sound communication skills, an outstanding ability to work in a team and a confident manner

- Very good MS-Office and SAP knowledge

- Business-fluent spoken and written English

- Further languages skills would be an advantage

- Willingness to travel to various locations worldwide for an extended period of time
