Legal Officer - Financial Sector

Key Responsibilities :

(i) Provide legal support to the Company's business functions.

(ii) Oversee relationships with outside counsel for litigation - explaining the brief, tracking, escalating to management key issues likely to impact financials, steering (through choice of counsel and venue) the success rate of the case

(iii) Represent the company at arbitration and litigation hearings, and any other regulatory hearings.

(iv) Analyse potential liabilities in detail, assess case strategies, interact with and update business heads and external clients (banks and investors)

(v) Monitor and analyze a broad range of laws and regulations that govern the Company; maintain compliance by developing procedures based on applicable laws and rules.

Work experience and skill set :

i) Corporate lawyer with a 8 plus years preferably in areas of acquisition; divestment; asset and stock sales or in bank litigation departments.

ii) Work experience on buying/ selling distressed assets from another jurisdiction and in general and commercial disputes will be a bonus

iii) Critical Skills required : Contract Negotiation, Due diligence. Litigation skills and experience with arbitration and mediation in local and national courts will be a plus.
