Legal Advisor - Banking - Contractual

Opportunity Overview:

We are seeking a freelance/Temp Legal Advisor, qualified in English Law, to contribute to a significant project for our clients UK subsidiary and other entities. We are particularly interested in candidates who are proficient in Arabic and have experience working with Islamic or Sharia Compliant financial institutions.

The role involves converting conventional bank documentation and agreements to Sharia-compliant formats. The minimum commitment period is 6 months, with the role located at our client bank's Head Office in Bahrain. The individual will need to collaborate closely with the Legal team on this key conversion project. The success of the project will be determined by the successful and accurate conversion of documentation, and the contractor's ability to provide legal advice and expertise throughout this process.

What You Will Be Doing :

As the Legal Advisor, your primary tasks will include:

- Working closely with our client's Head Office Legal team to convert conventional bank documentation and agreements into Sharia-compliant formats.

- Providing legal advice and recommendations based on English and Sharia Law.

- Collaborating with various teams to ensure that all documentation aligns with legal standards and Sharia principles.

- Reporting directly to the Head of the Legal Department.

Your Background

The ideal candidate should have:

- Qualifications in English Law.

- Arabic language proficiency is preferred.

- Experience in working with Islamic or Sharia Compliant financial institutions.

- Proven track record of providing legal advice and services in a financial institution setting.

- Familiarity with converting conventional banking agreements to Sharia-compliant formats.

- The ability to work in a collaborative environment, providing guidance and advice to teams across the organization.

Other Important Information

The role will require the candidate to be physically present at our Head Office in Bahrain, at least initially, to facilitate close collaboration with the Legal team.
