Salary Offered : 12-15 LPA
- We are looking for an experienced Manager of Policy and Advocacy to lead the organization's goals to plan and execute strategies that effectively influence governments and institutions to adopt policies and practices that will accelerate sustainable and inclusive educational goals. LLF's policy and advocacy work are particularly focused on contributing to education policy development, review and field-translations at the national and state levels in a sustainable and inclusive manner.
- Reporting to the Managing Consultant, the Policy & Advocacy Manager provides leadership for and oversees the planning, development, and implementation of LLF's policy and advocacy programs; to develop political/communication strategies, and to coordinate LLF's policy and advocacy work with the wider organizational strategy.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic leadership -
- Define and lead the strategic development and implementation of LLF's goals for policy and advocacy, ensuring LLF can respond to strategic opportunities and influence the development of relevant national and international practices and policies.
- Ensure LLF is employing multiple tactics towards its Policy and Advocacy goals, including grassroots and digital mobilization of the volunteer community and the general public, media outreach, and political/government engagement.
- Highlight LLF's work on the ground at policy forums to build thought leadership
- Budget planning and management
- Working with the LLF senior team to support the larger communications and fundraising agenda.
- Managing the policy and advocacy budget.
- Securing, managing, and reporting to grants and other funding to support LLF's policy and advocacy work
- Communication
- Drafting effective and overwhelming communications to raise awareness for LLF's work
- Demonstrating alignments of LLF projects with national/ state level policies and frameworks
- Identifying key objectives and impact areas from existing and historical LLF projects and align them to key focus areas of the national and state governments
Skills and abilities:
- Proven experience in designing, executing, and evaluating policy documents and advocacy campaigns at the grassroots and policy levels
- Strong familiarity or direct experience working with stakeholders within the Central and State Education departments
- 5-years of experience in relevant fields of work - note: if you have less than 5-years of experience, but still believe you should be considered, please apply
- Demonstrated ability to write and analyse policy proposals and share data/ analytics in a manner that is understandable at the grasstops, meso and grassroots levels.
- Experience in and comfortable in communicating with high-level political figures, government policy-makers, and staffers
- Experience managing and leading a team of staff focused on key areas of advocacy work
- Excellent team player with experience in coalition building, and superior interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly in writing and in oral presentations to a range of audiences, including government standing committees and grassroots teams
