Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM) manages the Bank's non-financial risks. These include:
- Operational Risk: The risk of loss resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, people and systems or from external events, and includes legal risks.
- Reputational Risk: The risk of possible damage to DB's brand and reputation, and the associated risk to earnings, capital or liquidity arising from any association, action or inaction which could be perceived by stakeholders to be inappropriate, unethical or inconsistent with the Banks- values and beliefs.
- NFRM defines the non-financial risk Framework to appropriately Identify, Assess, Mitigate, Monitor, Report and escalate non-financial risks.
The NFR Framework defines the consistent management of risk across over 100 non-financial risk types including:
- Information and Resilience risks (IRRM)
- Transaction Processing risks (TPR)
- Benchmark submissions risks
- Anti-Financial Crime risks
The NFRM Framework team is responsible for the development, maintenance, improvement and regulatory compliance of the overall NFR Framework. This includes:
- The principles, policies and procedure landscape
- Defining the roles and responsibilities across the bank for NFRM
- NFR governance across the bank
- The NFR tool set and capabilities, including events, lessons learned, actions & tracking scenarios and reporting
- Training, communication and implementation of the Framework components
- Independently assessing conformance for the implementation of the Framework
Role Description:
This role reports into the Head of Non-Financial Risk Management Technology Group, Pune and is primarily responsible for driving vendor rationalization and IP repatriation through consolidation of the development teams into Pune. It is expected that the NFRM IT Pune development team will scale rapidly over the next 1-2 years to approx. 125 resources.
This will require the Big Data Technology Lead Manager to drive the following Transformations with our Global Teams:
1. NFRM Transformation
1. Completeness, accuracy, automated controls in-system, Zero EUDAs, BCBS 239, IMA waivers, Stress Testing, Basel 2/3/4, Capital Optimization, RWA reduction
2. Technology Transformation
1. Complete overhaul of IT systems that includes improvement to current solutions design, software/platforms, reduce application and data complexities, storage issues, improvement in application and database performance, processes and access controls etc
2. One copy of the truth, workflow, reduce h/w, data archiving, migration of large database/warehouse applications to Big Data platforms, decommission legacy systems and build out the strategic platform around the tech stack listed below
3. Our move to a future proof technology stack i.e. Big Data, Hadoop/Spark/Exadata, Scala/R/Java tools, Oracle, Unix, AI, ML, micro-services, Fabric/Cloud adoption, HTML5
1. Operating Model Transformation
1. Agile, DevOps, automated testing, cycle times approaching 1 day!
2. Drive Agile collaboration with the Business and the broader NFRM IT team globally
2. Workforce Transformation
1. Build Capability around the tech stack, operating model, and risk transformation with employees while reducing vendor sprawl and footprint
Additionally, the candidate will be expected to drive the following:
- Influence and shape the overall Target Operating Model (TOM) for Risk IT including maximization of the development capability and resources in Pune
- Drive the IP repatriation into the Pune development centre for Risk IT
- Drive technical excellence and improve efficiency and overall quality of the developed applications.
- Work with the Global Risk IT leads to agree effective transition plans for the key programmes and ensure a controlled and phased migration of the core development activities to Pune
- Work with the global architects to ensure we are leveraging best practice, shared services and driving innovation as much as possible.
- Work closely with relevant business and IT domain heads to understand and guide solution vision & execution planning.
- Work closely with relevant IT development teams in order to ensure a detailed understanding of the technical design and successful delivery of the technical solutions
- Work closely with the Enterprise Architecture group to provide wider thought leadership to the Risk IT solutions.
- Drive end to end efficiency across all stakeholders and divisions through the aligned front to back architectural thinking and influence.
- Understanding the IT target architecture such that projects can be delivered strategically.
Essential Technical Skills:
- Ability to face off to, influence and engage senior (Managing Director, Director Level) stakeholders from the Risk and Infrastructure Functions
- Ability to lead and communicate strategic IT articulation & decision making around IT architecture and data models to address implementation requirements
- Proven track-record of successful IT project delivery to high-pressure clients
- Extensive experience coding with various languages.
- Must have excellent communication skills and able to work with developers in remote regions.
- Experience of working in a robust technology environment with a clear appreciation of software development best practices and change control procedures,
- Proven track-record of successful IT architectural design to high-pressure clients
- Strong architectural design skills and detailed understanding of the different architectural design patterns
- Detailed understanding of data architecture and protocols
- Ability to develop business non-functional requirements
- Ability to develop business cases and conduct requirements/business analysis
- Ability to lead IT development teams both directly & via influence
- Ability to coordinate across global platforms for risk to ensure that required changes are planned and implemented
- Ability to face off to Production Support personnel around issues, risks, production problems, product direction and complexity and build their understanding of requirements to help production support scale team appropriately
- Ability to perform financial management, understanding and tracking spend to ensure program remains on budget
- Actively participate and contribute in Agile ceremonies including Daily Stand ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint review, Sprint retrospective meetings
Preferable Technical Skills
- Hadoop/Exadata/Spark, Scala/ Java, Oracle, Unix, Web and micro services, HTML5
- Significant experience in Risk technology and associated vendor products and technology implementations
- Understanding of SOA & high-level IT architecture
- Has managed multi-disciplinary teams
