Position summary :
This position is responsible for overall management of the Risk policy unit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overall management of the Credit Risk policy for secured assets.
- Formulation / Renewal of credit policies / lending parameters for the Mortgage business, to comply with guidelines (both internal & external) and to serve the twin objectives of meeting business requirements and minimizing credit risk.
- Responsible for managing overall credit health of the portfolio including acceptable delinquency indicators & loss rates.
- To oversee that new account applications are processed with adherence to credit policy requirements to minimize credit losses and to contain fraud / credit risk.
- To ensure implementation of risk management policies relating to Credit Acceptance and Account Fulfillment.
- To aid business growth through effective monitoring and control of the Mortgage portfolio.
- Portfolio management through annual portfolio health test, bureau analysis, industry monitoring and customer visits etc.
- Raise awareness and ensure compliance with KYC, ML and other regulatory guidelines
- Facilitate development/enhancement of new systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of credit processes
- Support people management and ESS initiatives of risk function by nurturing talent, multiplying leadership, ensuring strong performance management culture, building a cohesive team and promoting high level of staff engagement.
- Current products funded under Secured Loans include but not limited to Mortgages, Auto Loans, Commercial Vehicle Loans, Construction Equipment, Machine Loans, Medical Equipment Loans.
Key Responsibilities :
- Delinquency & Portfolio management - Maintain the portfolio and bounce metrics at acceptable levels and propose measures to control the same.
- Participating and contributing in building and maintenance of rule engines.
- Monitoring and enriching the applications through third party sources like Perfios, Total KYC, Bureau, NSDL, UIDAI etc.
- Identification and management of high risk accounts through CIBIL scrub etc., to ensure that loan losses are minimal and maintained within budgets
- Developing and Conducting COPR (Credit & operation process review) process to minimize operational & process risk and sharing observations/ corrective action required with UW teams for continuous improvement and learning
- Maintain portfolio quality through sound management of credit policies, development, maintenance, and execution of appropriate credit MIS for portfolio monitoring
- To put robust bureau MIS and analysis in place.
- Ensure effective portfolio management though following :
Portfolio Health Test / Scrub:
- Regular usage of bureau to calibrate portfolio actions.
- Gain portfolio level market and competitive insights.
- Scrub - to identify stressed A/c 's off-us to act early
Industry/ Segment Monitoring:
- Monitoring of top 15 industry/segment exposure seen across SBS portfolios.
- Analyze external research data (CRISIL / CMIE) along with market intelligence inputs basis customer visits to enable policy measures.
Customer Visits:
- Select customers in top 15 industry segments of the portfolio across locations to be visited.
- Monthly basis covering at least 4-5 customers.
- Gain qualitative objective information and identify industry/location level opportunities & headwinds
Fraud Control:
- Increased vigilance across login and on-boarding stage.
- To cover financial doc check, increased sampling, profile checks, stressed account reviews, negative database, cross verifications.
Exposure Monitoring:
- Systemized triggers for Exposure Monitoring across all SBS businesses.
- Graded checks basis kind of customer and exposure level
Valuation audits:
- Periodic sample valuation on historic cases
- Build control mehanism basis results to ensure collateral coverage
- Support new initiatives at an organization and business level.
- Facilitate and support system optimizations/enhancements with optimal risk controls.
- Develop comprehensive Risk and training Manual for Mortgage
- Manage audits as required - Statutory, RBI & Internal audits.
Strive for zero fraud
KEY CUSTOMERS:
- Internal Customers - other departments like UW, Product, Sales, Operations, etc. Interaction with these departments for joint initiatives and key business deliverables.
- External Customers -Regulators/ auditors/ CIBIL for reporting/ discussion/ feedback, etc.
KEY MEASURABLES:
- Responsibility on delinquency, new business booking quality and portfolio growth quality and final loss nos.
- Timely and accurate output/service to support good portfolio growth and optimized risk return decisions.
- Pro-active engagement with business for AOP/LRP initiative to partner the development, execution & implementation plans
- Risk Optimization projects and effective implementation of the same.
- Support design and implementation of new product initiatives
- Support all strategic initiatives of the organization.
- Rigorous monitoring and review of new initiatives/ credit program policy to ensure quality portfolio being maintained.
AUTHORITIES:
Credit Delegated Authorities as determined by CRO / CEO.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Professional degree. CA is an added advantage.
- Good analytical skills and ability to think innovatively
- Good communication/ presentation skills
- Good financial analysis and SME segment knowledge.
- Should be able to work with diverse teams well.
- Good understanding of the Mortgage credit life cycle and key drivers of Mortgage product performance.
