Lead - Safety & Security - EHS

Purpose: The purpose of this role is to lead and ensure the effective implementation of Environmental Health & Safety Standards (EHSS) across Heritage K12 schools in India, fostering a culture of safety, security, and environmental sustainability.

Role and responsibilities:

Lead and actively engage in Environmental Health & Safety Standards (EHSS) and promotional events for K12 schools across India. Develop and participate in EHSS engagement activities, supporting a wide range of Health,Safety, and Environmental aspects. Scan for emerging legislation, update legal registers, and assist in planning

and conducting Safety, Security, and Environment audits.

1) EHS Management:

- Assist the Head of Safety and Security in investigating incidents.

- Ensure induction and yearly re-induction for all employees.

- Conduct Safety and Security inspections/audits with formal follow-up on Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.

- Ensure proper maintenance of safety equipment and timely repairs.

- Conduct Quarterly Cluster Safety Training for newly inducted employees.

- Perform performance reviews for team goal alignment.

2) Certification Audit:

- Lead the certification audit through the implementation of Bureau Veritas - School Health & Safety Management System, ensuring a Green Rating.

- Provide guidance, assistance, and monitor progress of audit preparation.

- Ensure safety adherence by implementing company policies, conducting pre-audit training, and maintaining continuity for re-certification after two years.

- Maintain MIS of safety processes, database of critical equipment, and address deficiencies with Business Manager.

3) Country Security Management:

- Deliver security assurance at site/country levels.

- Ensure efficient physical security services by third parties.

- Plan security budgets and expenses.

- Carry out loss control analysis, assess access control and theft prevention.

- Conduct threat assessments with support from operations.

- Drive security awareness programs and advise on personal security matters.

- Provide immediate support to colleagues, including business travelers.

- Lead/advice on security matters for minor works.

- Implement/assist with security equipment.

- Provide security advice during crises and coordinate security matters.

- Evaluate potential risks and assist with filing and follow-up of FIR with Police/Local body.

- Prepare monthly/quarterly/yearly reports.

Desired Candidate Profile:

- Bachelor's/ Master's degree in a relevant field; additional certifications in EHSS or related areas are a plus.

- A minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in EHSS management.

- Proven experience in leading and implementing Environmental Health & Safety Standards (EHSS) in educational or similar settings.

- Strong background in managing Safety, Security, and Environmental aspects, including conducting audits and inspections.

- Previous involvement in certification audits, preferably with Bureau Veritas or similar systems.

- Demonstrated experience in creating and executing safety awareness programs.

- Strong knowledge of local and international safety regulations and standards.

- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.

- Strong communication skills to conduct training sessions, audits, and interact with stakeholders.

- Experience in crisis management, including advising on security matters during emergencies.

- Willingness to travel as needed to various school locations across India.
