Responsibilities will include:
Functional Expertise:
1. Design 0-1 consumer products from scratch to scale; Needs a strong growth mindset which is conducive to experimenting & executing an iterative design process
2. Able to understand the different moving pieces entailing financial services products; Then prioritize them & tastefully convert those pieces of information in an easy-to-understand fashion via high-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes with detailed flows and interactions.
3. Ensure consistent patterns and behaviors among our digital & physical products.
4. Be the gatekeeper of user's interest & ensure the design is compliant with the regulations & does not shortchange the user in any way; Have a strong sense of human-centric design principles, best practices and accessibility
5. Demonstrate extreme ownership. Don't always wait for others to tell you what needs to be done
6. Be a self-starter and eventually lead a team of designers.
Interaction:
1. You will interact directly with the CPO and the business heads of the consumer division.
Who is NOT a good fit for this role:
1. This role will eventually evolve into leading & mentoring a team of product designers BUT if you do not see yourself doing IC work or if you need a team from Day 1, then you may not be a good fit for this role.
To succeed in the role:
Impact While there are many ways to measure success, the ultimate reward for any experienced product designer is to get a high funnel throughput, high retention & repeat usage of their products with as minimal user support tickets on how the product works etc
Challenges & Decisions:
- The market is crowded with a lot of noise; The product's design needs to stand out and make a mark for itself
- Navigate complex market dynamics and customer needs.
- Make key decisions balancing innovation, regulation & practicality
Qualification & Experience (type & industry):
- Minimum10+ years of designing & scaling consumer products across multiple startups
- Bachelor's / Master degree in Design, UX/UI, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Familiarity with UX research methodologies and their integration into the design process.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of UX design projects and methodologies
Skills;
- Understanding of Design Systems and Component Libraries for team collaboration and brand consistency
- Advanced knowledge of Figma variables and design tokens
- Proven experience designing for mobile, tablets and desktop devices, with deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive layouts
- Create and present visually appealing and intuitive UI designs aligned with brand guidelines, enhancing the overall user experience
- Have strong written & spoken communication skills to be able to showcase their work
