Role and Responsibilities:

Economists need to research a wide range of economic and financial topics, including the price and goods and services, employment rates, inflation rates, taxes and many others. Regardless of the sector or area of expertise they work in, economists typically perform the following tasks as a critical component of their job.

Job role:

- To develop mathematical models to explain and interpret business cycles, inflation, demand, supply effects of tax policies or unemployment use mathematics and statistics to the theory and principles of economics. To apply econometrics for analysis and prediction of all economic activity. To study the same using techniques like calculus, regression analysis, game theory among others but not limited.

- To develop monetary policies, predict future financial activity. And also, studies banking methods, credit structures etc.

- To study the supply of workers and the demand for labour, employment levels and how wages are set, the effects of labour related policies, etc.

Economist performs a variety of responsibilities, including:

- Gather and evaluate data

- Analyse date and forecast upcoming economic conditions

- Evaluating Tamil Nadu government initiatives

- Handling surveys

- Make budgets

- Describe the issues facing the economy and suggest possible remedies

- Inform colleagues about complex economic trends and offer business strategy recommendations

- Anticipated spending

- To maximise profits, compare trends in sales and consumer demand

- Writing about different market trends
