Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of staff to execute on client engagements and NL practice development initiatives related to technical accounting and transaction advisory. This will include:
- Working directly with the onshore engagement team on a daily basis to deliver work to onshore clients;
- Managing a team of staff to support the engagement delivery and managing staffing resource decisions as required for the engagement
- Reviewing staff work and providing feedback and training as required
- Acting as a performance manager for the staff and being involved in the career development of the staff
- Training the staff on various US GAAP/IFRS reporting guidance
- Delivering on a range of technical accounting and transaction advisory engagements. This will include:
- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert on technical accounting matters (US GAAP/IFRS).
- Providing accounting advisory support and research to clients, including implementation assistance with new accounting standards
- Assisting with Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) regulatory filings for spin-offs, carve-outs, initial public offerings (IPO), debt offerings, and other acquisition filings for both domestic and cross-border transactions
- Providing conversion services to companies that need a change in their financial reporting to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Providing transaction oriented accounting and reporting assistance, for complex capital raising and financing structures, financial instruments, revenue recognition etc.
- Coordinating with on-shore technical accounting teams to understand their accounting issue(s) and provide research assistance on an as-needed basis on US GAAP/ IFRS accounting pronouncements.
- Authoring on an as-needed basis white-papers, position papers, etc., on technical accounting matters for which research was performed. To research and author proactively, accounting white papers, position papers, etc. relating to current and anticipated industry/economic developments in such a way that these can then be used to pitch to potential clients for firm services.
- Supporting onshore business development related to areas such as proposals for new business, US GAAP/IFRS convergence, new accounting pronouncements and other regulatory changes which impact accounting decisions
Qualifications:
- Chartered Accountant (ICAI or ACCA) or CPA with minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college/university
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and/or IFRS. Ability to research, read, comprehend and critically examine accounting standards and other pronouncements in order to have an informed point of view is a MUST.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills and the ability to learn and succeed in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills and a team player
- Ability to travel internationally
- Strong Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills required
