Kotak Mahindra Bank - Head - Strategy Projects - IIM/ISB/MDI/FMS

Background:

The Group Strategy team works closely with the Kotak Group (Bank and its subsidiaries) to evaluate and execute strategic initiatives spanning areas of organic and inorganic growth. Organic initiatives include executing special internal projects, business planning process and other such initiatives. Inorganic initiatives include evaluating and executing M&A, divestitures, equity investments, and other strategic transactions.

Role Description:

Proposed role will be part of Group Strategy team and will assume lead responsibility for Organic Initiatives across Kotak Group, reporting to the Group Head - Strategy.

The candidate is expected to drive projects of strategic importance to the Group and in the process, develop a deep rooted understanding of each business. The candidate will partner with the lines of business and enterprise functions throughout the strategic planning process, and will assist them on driving their respective businesses to higher growth in the most optimal manner.

The candidate would need to serve internal stakeholders with positive attitude, entrepreneurial drive and highest level of work ethics/ integrity. The role demands specific capabilities including deep critical thinking, orientation to detail, creating actionable insights using the right synthesis of data-analysis-intelligence-narrative. Illustrative list of responsibilities include -

- Proactively working with business leaders to identify key projects and initiatives for respective functions

- Business planning for future and the strategic path to reach such goals viz., new products, market, customer segments, optimization of productivity & process, digital transformation etc.

- Delivering impact through actionable insights and recommendations using the right mix of rigorous fact-based analysis, competitive assessment, bottom-up thinking etc.

- Full cycle support to businesses on conceiving recommendations, preparatory materials, alignment and approvals, change-management and implementation, periodic monitoring and validation

- Lead-manage and nurture younger members of strategy team towards their growth and independent functioning

Job requirements- Ideal candidate should have:

- Overall, minimum 12 (maximum 18) years of experience, primarily in customer facing roles

- Exposure of multiple roles, businesses and teams within Kotak Group

- Strong performance track record

- MBA from one of the premier institutes

- Prior experience in corporate strategy / strategic consulting will be an advantage

- Experience of managing and implementing strategic projects for Kotak Group

- Broad financial acumen with superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor, attention to detail and the right temperament

- Outstanding record of academic achievement, superior interpersonal skills, demonstrated communication and presentation skills (oral and written), independence of thought, and an entrepreneurial nature

- Strong work ethic, ability to proactively manage multiple high priority projects and deliver outcomes in cross-functional team environment
