Applications are invited for post of Director at (a) School of Computer Engineering (b) School of Computer Application (c) School of Electrical Engineering (d) School of Electronics Engineering (e) School of Mechanical Engineering and (f) School of Civil Engineering from senior industry practitioners who have engineering degree from IIT, NIT or equivalent premier institution with a specialization in the respective areas. The applicant also must have a post-graduate MBA degree or equivalent from IIM, XLRI or institutes of similar repute. Academic experience is desirable but not essential. Job Summary: Director of (a) School of Computer Engineering (b) School of Computer Application (c) School of Electrical Engineering (d) School of Electronics Engineering (e) School of Mechanical Engineering and (f) School of Civil Engineering is responsible for overseeing a range of programs and services focused on promoting and enhancing the experience of students within the department.

Specifically, the Director engages in the following activities:

- Building relationships with students and prospective students. S/he will be knowledgeable of the degree programs offered, requirements and assist students with course questions, troubleshooting, social support and more

- Leading the implementation of existing programs as well as developing new initiatives to enhance the experience of students in the department

- Serving as a key point of contact regarding the academic programs within and outside the department.

- Working with faculty members on the department's educational programs, including student academic issues. Director shall be supported by Dean of the respective School in academic matters

- Working closely with other Schools of KIIT University and serving on various workgroups

- Representing the needs of the faculty and its students with regard to academic programs

- Serving as a key participant in the admissions process including recruitment of high potential candidates, reviewing applications and providing input on financial aid decisions

- Ensuring that the School serves as a safe place for students and their concerns or personal challenges are brought forth for discussion and assistance

- Provide academic leadership and select, train, develop, manage, and lead faculty and staff team members according to the guidelines provided by the University

- Collaborate with other Academic Department Directors within own school and across schools

Directly Supervises: Faculty and administrative staff of the School

Reports To: Vice Chancellor, KIIT University and Board of Directors, KIIT University

Interacts With: Inside contact encompasses the entire range of personnel. Outside contacts may include community and professional leaders as well as other educators.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Knowledge:

- Bachelor's degree from IIT, NIT or institutes of similar repute with specialization in:

a) Computer Science for School of Computer Engineering

b) Computer Science for School of Computer Application

c) Electrical Engineering for School of Electrical Engineering

d) Electronics Engineering for School of Electronics Engineering

e) Mechanical Engineering for School of Mechanical Engineering

f) Civil Engineering for School of Civil Engineering

- Master's degree from IIM, XLRI or institute of similar repute

- Minimum of 15 years related experience and should have held positions of increasingly responsible experience in the industry

- Advanced certifications or credits towards further study are highly preferred

- Fiscal and personnel management experience

- Academics to be career priority

Skills:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong interpersonal skills with students, faculty, supervisor and staff

- Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills

- Strong coaching skills with listening capability

- Strong management skills and ability to juggle multiple deadlines efficiently

- Strong skills at working with faculty members and senior educational leaders

- Skill in analyzing information to define the problem and identify relevant concerns, patterns and relationships and recognize alternatives and their implications

- Skill in hiring, orienting, training, organizing workflow, delegating, monitoring and evaluating performance, coaching, counseling and disciplining as necessary

- Skill in planning, preparation, and analysis of personnel budgets

Abilities:

- Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments

- Ability to mentor and guide young professionals

- Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines

- Ability to interpret and effectively explain complex policies and procedures to all levels of academic and staff personnel

- Ability to mediate effectively between and among contending parties and groups

- Ability to work independently with only general direction and to accept equivocal circumstances

- Ability to take appropriate action where answers to a problem are not readily apparent

- Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information and documents

- Ability to conduct organizational analysis, recommend alternatives and generate an organizational change structure
