Associate Vice President Accounts and Taxation


- To ensure timely and accurate adherence to statutory compliances and enactments so as to protect the financial and legal interests of the company

- Technical Expertise, Attention to Detail, Knowledge of relevant IT packages, Team Management, Process Orientation, Communication

- 8-10 years, at least 5 years post qualification, exposure to areas of accounts, compliance, audit, tax required with at least 2 years in each, and preferable exposure to BFSI sector

- Provides inputs for preparation of the annual Accounts & Compliance budget

- Tracks expenses versus budgets and highlights variances (if any)

- Creates a clear calendar of returns and payments which is communicated to the team

- Provides updates on changes in enactments to the team

- Liaisons with tax advisors on a regular basis to ensure proper compliance

- Cross checks the tax calculations to ensure accuracy of numbers and adherence to enactments; Suggests changes if required

- Cross checks the tax returns to ensure accuracy and adherence to enactments; Suggests changes if required

- Guides team to prepare back-up documentation to fulfill the notices, scrutinizes, appeals and other tax departmental requirements

- Represents organization before tax authorities along with tax advisors

- Keeps oneself abreast of new developments in taxation which could have significant impact on the organization

- Keeps oneself abreast of new developments in accounting standards which could have significant impact on the organization

- Provides updates on changes in accounting norms to the team

- Cross checks key element of the books of accounts to ensure adherence to accounting standards, principles and practices

- Analyzes branch accounts to measure segment profitability

- Cross checks all reports prepared by team; suggests changes if any and ensures timely submission of the same

- Provides the financial and other business related information to investors/ management through prescribed formats

- Cross checks all statutory payment details prepared by team; suggests changes if any and ensures timely payment of the same

- Ensures proper and exhaustive information is provided to the auditors on time

- Responsible for answering all queries put forward by the auditors in a satisfactory manner

- Coordinates with all HODs to obtain any information required by the auditors

- Creates a recruitment plan for the department, and ensures recruitment happens as per plan

- Ensures appropriate training and development interventions

- Conducts timely and transparent appraisals

- Conducts monthly 1:1s with direct reports

- Actively manages vertical and horizontal career development of team

- Conducts semi-annual skip level 1:1s with all indirect reports

- Weekly Update meeting with CEO

- Monthly review meeting with direct reports

- Quarterly review meeting for all HODs / Business Heads

- Payment of TDS, PT, PF, ESI, GST, Self-Assessment Tax and Payment of Advance Tax

- Filing of returns financial, tax, ALM Preparation of department budget

- Recruitment till all Manager Level Employees for Accounts & Compliance department (for approved positions)
