Patent Specialist / Engineer

- Reporting to the IP group within the Legal and Compliance, this role will have the responsibility to provide counselling on patents, idea generation and other IP issues and adapt to a broad spectrum of technologies across multiple business units.

- Develop, support, and implement an effective IP strategy in collaboration with colleagues, in-house and in other geographies and outside council, as appropriate.

- Prepare material and conduct training of engineers; members from specific functions including research and digital; and management to promote IP protection - preferably patents, and sometimes associated trade secrets, confidential information, copyrights, and trademarks.

- Work closely with engineers and others for idea generation and to identify and evaluate patentable subject matter, improve invention disclosure quality, and drive invention disclosure approvals through business unit patent committees.

- Conduct preliminary patentability searches, patent risk assessments, freedom to operate (FTO) analysis, patent landscape study, and patent sustainability assessments.

- Draft and file Patent Applications at appropriate Patent Offices across the globe, as per company's requirements

- Have an experience on conducting patent related studies and application drafting & filing preferably in the following geographies - Australia, India, New Zealand, Canada, UK, and/ or the US.

- Manage and conduct several projects, such as Infringing product identification, Infringement Analysis and Evidence-of-Use Preparation.

- Manage patent recognition program.

- Review publications, presentations, and marketing material for compliance with IP policies.

- Participate in special projects and provide other IP related support as needed, such as corporate strategic initiatives, and IP metrics reports for leadership team.

- Review and conduct Quality Check (QC) on Deliverables/Reports.

- Strong analytical skills with thorough understanding of the technology domain.

- Should possess experience in evidence of use charts, preparation of claim charts, patent mining, feasibility analysis.

- Expertise in working on various databases.

- Should have done IP Searches (Invalidity, Knock out searches, clearance searches, FTO, etc.)

- Excellent written and verbal communication (in English) with ability in creative and persuasive writing.

- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word.

- Conceptually strong with an innovative and analytical approach to the work with an eye for detail; ability to learn new concepts & technology within a short span of time.

- Self-starter - able to work independently and take the initiative to drive projects successfully to completion

- Ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment

Qualifications:

- Masters or bachelor's in technology Space, Finance, Science in general,

- M.Tech / B.Tech / Electronics & Communication/ Computer Science.

- Solid knowledge of patent process and related patent regulations

- Registered patent agent in India or another country preferred

- Experience with negotiating agreements (such as NDAs and/or IP agreements) a plus
