The Business Analyst will be part of a team developing solutions for the Fixed Income and Equities Sales and Research businesses within J.P. Morgan's Corporate and Investment Bank. The candidate will be responsible for proactively gathering, documenting and communicating requirements as well as driving end to end delivery and adoption for these solutions. Successful candidates must have strong analytical and problem solving skills and should have domain knowledge in the financial services space.
The candidate will have responsibility for gathering and analyzing requirements, writing functional and data specifications, and working closely with senior business users to validate requirements prior to application development. The role will require involvement in an iterative software development model, requiring agility and flexibility on the part of the analyst to handle requirements changes. The Business Analyst will work with application development teams to understand, document and interpret complex requirements.
As client management is an integral part of the role the Business Analyst will be responsible for project governance, including managing user groups and communicating status to both technology and business stakeholders. In order to be effective, excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to drive effective meetings will be essential.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst (with financial services industry experience preferred).
- Strong written and oral communication skills, an ability to demonstrate analytical thinking and problem solving skills and an excellent work ethic.
- Able to forge productive working relationships with product managers, product owners, business and technology stakeholders and other team members. Define and design business functionality based on an understanding of product strategy, operational, infrastructural, regulatory and market needs.
- Ability to analyze complex cross functional business processes to produce business and technical requirements that are documented in epics and user stories. Documentation should include assumptions, inputs, outputs, usability criteria, business process mapping, expected performance, use cases, wireframes, flow diagrams, dependencies, impact analysis, risks and user acceptance criteria.
- Ensures solutions will deliver the required business results. Drives the definition, testing, training, and implementation of functional requirements. Upon implementation, drives knowledge transfer to Production Support and others. Drives adoption of the solution with stakeholders.
- Facilitates walk through sessions and workshops and ensures optimal usage of time by driving effective meetings with only the required participants.
- Experienced working across multiple work streams and teams, flexibility to work with users across different time zones (when required) and within rigid timelines.
- Experienced working in an Agile framework and participating effectively in associated ceremonies (standup meetings, retrospectives, etc). Communicates project status clearly and in a timely manner.
- Proficiency in SQL and other data analysis skills a plus
