As a Senior Director of Data Engineering within the Consumer & Community Banking, you lead multiple technical areas, manage the activities of multiple teams, and collaborate across technical domains and organizational boundaries. In this role, you are expected to make an impact on our business by leveraging your skills in building and leading a team of technologists who will deliver on Consumer & Community Banking's next generation Data Strategy in alignment with Chase's Global Technology strategy.

Job responsibilities

- Manage agile software delivery teams and partnering with the Product Owners to drive Data & Insights strategy and solution delivery.

- Deliver solutions leveraging modern technologies including cloud backed APIs and micro-services utilizing distributed database technologies.

- Hire, build, and manage a strong pool of talent in order to build a diverse and inclusive team and culture within the organization

- Manage all aspects of technology delivery

- Provide leadership and high-level direction to teams while frequently overseeing employee populations across multiple areas and locations

- Act as the primary interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives

- Manage multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations

- Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams

- Champion the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience. In addition, 5+ year of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical opportunities specifically within Data domain and more broadly across the organization.

- Experience developing or leading large cross-functional teams of technologists especially in the Data/Analytics space

- Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.

- Experience with developing and managing large scale platforms with strong understanding of complex distributed databases running on hybrid infrastructure (on premises, private and private cloud environments)

- Deep expertise building and operating large scale high performance environments with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)

- Deep expertise with enterprise design patterns and industry best practices with experience using modern technology (e.g., Java, Cassandra, Kafka), design patterns (e.g., microservices, APIs), and databases (e.g., S3, Arora, Oracle on Cloud)

- Experience with building, leading and mentoring technology teams and coaching next level leaders within the organization.

- Ability to work in a dynamic, agile environment leading/working with geographically distributed teams.

- Experience with implementing industry standard cybersecurity & technology controls.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to present to and communicate effectively with key stakeholders across product, technology, data and design

- Strong organizational and management skills.

- Experience with retail banking, AWS (Cloud) Data services, Data Security
