Managing Director - Technology Leader - New Banking Architecture

Job Summary:
As Technology leader for New Banking Architecture, you will play critical role in setting the technology strategy for this product and ensuring its execution. You will work closely with peers, stakeholders, and teams across Consumer & Community Banking and Global Technology to influence, create alignment, and develop plans to achieve the vision. You will engage in delivering rapid innovation, modernizing applications and development lifecycles, and accelerating migration to the public cloud.
The New Banking Architecture team is responsible for key technology products that enable Chase businesses. This includes Photon, a microservices framework and platform, that supports security, controls, event streaming, messaging, data stores, and governance, while accelerating cloud native computing practices. Photon is widely adopted across Chase lines of business, enabling thousands of developers to build highly scalable, micro-service based autonomous systems with operational visibility and metrics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create, develop, and deliver to the roadmap for the products within the organization
- Lead a team of Engineering Directors and Managers, partner with Product leaders, and Data/Analytics peers, and coordinate across product areas to align on a coherent strategy for this product
- Deliver to quality driven engineering practices
- Engage with teams across Global Technology, Architecture, and firmwide Product areas to align on design patterns, best practices and strategic solutions
- Make technology decisions using data, and understanding product usage patterns
- Lead technology teams with a platform mindset and a passion for people leadership rooted in helping your team do their best work, hiring, and performance mentoring
- Apply frameworks to balance technical debt reduction with introducing innovations
Required Qualifications:
- 18+ years of professional experience in technology/software engineering both as an individual contributor and a technology leader
- Experience working with open-source microservice-based frameworks (java Spring Boot), a deep understanding of resiliency patterns, IAM (Identity and Access Management) and API technologies - REST, GraphQL, gRPC. Deep expertise with cloud technologies (AWS) - compute, storage, network and data
- Experience delivering complex large scale distributed systems and event driven architectures (kafka)
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, k8s), databases (SQL, NoSQL) & multiple tech stacks (such as java, python, kotlin)
- Building high performing, secure applications and building security into the DNA of products
- Is a champion of SRE practices, a culture of clean code, and mechanisms and tools to maintain a frictionless high quality dev environment
- Experience building, scaling, and managing multiple high performing technology teams and working with cross-functional teams. Managed multiple levels of people managers, mentored principal engineers and executed with a team size of over 60.
- Successfully partnered with product management and tech stakeholders to deliver results
- Demonstrated track record of leading geographically dispersed teams
- Experience building configurable, scalable, extensible, highly available (SaaS) platforms
- Experience engaging stakeholders across an organization to set strategy, align on priorities and deliver to a roadmap while managing to changing business needs and requirements.
