Analyst - Global Index Research
J.P. Morgan's Global Research Center (GRC) in Mumbai was set up in August, 2003 as an extension of the Firm's Global Equity Research teams around the world. Besides working with JP Morgan's Equity Research teams, the analysts and associates in GRC are now engaged with other areas of public side research including Credit Research, Economics, Strategy, Credit Derivatives and Fixed Income Bond indices.
The Global Index Research Group is responsible for the ideation and management of its market leading Fixed Income indices across Developed, Emerging and Frontier markets. The group has expanded its reach to cover other asset classes and investing strategies, including ESG, Securitized and Commodities, to name a few. The team caters to large institutional asset managers and hedge funds, central banks, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds.
We seek a candidate who has an aptitude for fixed income markets and is passionate about workflows and data analysis. The individual is expected to achieve a firm grasp of index products and function as the primary point of contact in the time zone. Attention to detail and organizational skills are critical.
Ideal candidates for these positions would be Engineering graduates with upto 3 years of experience in the financial services or fintech domain and looking to build a career in the financial markets and have a keen interest in the financial markets and business.
Responsibilities:
- As part of the Asia franchise, coordinate with market participants including Sales, Trading and other Research teams to identify evolving trends in the investor landscape and build new flagship and bespoke indices to meet clients' investment objectives.
- Work closely with internal commercialization teams to onboard new index clients, understand client requirements and provide viable benchmark solutions.
- Assist in Index product development process through partnership with technology, operations and data vendors.
- Participate in several initiatives including thematic publications, monthly attribution and performance monitors and ad-hoc notes.
- Ability to articulate ideas and thought processes to a global audience including team management and clients.
- Develop a crisp understanding of the process workflow and be able to coordinate with internal teams (back office operations, technology, front-office business lines etc.) to resolve operational hurdles.
Essential Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Credible understanding of financial market products. Knowledge/ experience in fixed income a plus.
- Exposure and interest in programing languages, preferably Python. Experience with SQL & databases.
- Problem-solving ability and general understanding of statistics.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills; Detailed Oriented.
- Ability to articulate ideas and thought processes to a global audience including team management and clients.
- Engineering graduates preferably in Finance, Technology, or related disciplines.
Desirable Skills / Experience (optional):
- Practical experience with J.P. Morgan analytical tools and operational infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Market Data platforms such as Bloomberg, Reuters.
- CFA level 1 or 2 would be an added advantage.
