Quantitative Research (QR) is an expert quantitative modeling group in J.P. Morgan, as well as a leader in financial engineering, data analytics, statistical modeling and portfolio management. As a global team, QR partners with traders, marketers and risk managers across all products and regions, contributes to sales and client interaction, product innovation, valuation and risk management, inventory and portfolio optimization, electronic trading and market making, and appropriate financial risk controls.


Opportunity


We are looking for an experienced Associate to join our team in Mumbai. The Equity Derivatives QR team's mission is to develop and maintain models, cutting-edge methodologies and infrastructure to value and hedge financial transactions ranging from flow products such as vanilla options to complex derivative deals, as well as improve our technological efficiency and promote advanced trading and structuring solutions to the Front Office. We work closely with the Front Office, Technology as well as Market Risk, VCG and other control functions in a combined effort to deliver a best in class pricing, risk management and reporting system.

Your Impact


You'll contribute to the firm's product innovation, effective risk management, financial risk controls. Specially, you'll have the chance to:


- Develop and maintain mathematical models for pricing, hedging and risk measurement of equity derivative securities;


- Support both OTC and flow trading activities by explaining model behavior, identifying major sources of risk in portfolios, carrying out scenario analyses, and developing and delivering quantitative tools.


- Assess the appropriateness of quantitative models and their limitations, identifying and monitoring the associated model risk;


- Liaise with different stakeholders from front office (FO), Risk, Technology, MO to ensure pricing models and risk behave as expected across entire technology stack


- Assist front office in reviewing pricing , booking and risk management aspects of complex bespoke trades.


About You


- You demonstrate proficiency in code design and programming skills.


- You demonstrate proficiency in at least one of the object oriented programming, like C++ or Java and are good at Python.


- You're interested in applying quantitative skills to solve real world problems that impact business in a fast paced front-office trading environment;


- You demonstrate quantitative and problem-solving skills as well as research skills;


- You understand advanced mathematics arising in financial modeling i.e: probability theory, stochastic calculus, partial differential equations;


- You're enthusiastic about knowledge sharing and collaboration;


- You have strong interpersonal skills - you listen and communicate in a direct, succinct manner;


- Your excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, can engage and influence partners and stakeholders; You are good at communicating concepts and ideas, also via documentation, and you are keen to defend their validity and tailor messages to different audiences;


Desirables


- Advanced degree (PhD, MSc or equivalent) in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, etc.


- Knowledge of options pricing theory and basic understanding of stochastic calculus


- Knowledge of Equity derivatives markets is a plus, but it's not strict requirement


- Proficiency in at least one of the coding languages : python or C++
