Overview:

A critical priority for Asset Management is to ensure that high-quality data is available to run our business and meet our clients' needs. The Asset Wealth Management (AWM) Chief Data Office (CDO) defines AWM's data strategy and support for the core data used across AWM and needed to run our business, such as client data, reference data, product data, securities and pricing data, transactions and holdings, and index data. The AWM CDO is positioned in the Asset Wealth Management Operations division, within AWM Center reporting to the AWM Chief Operational Officer (COO). We work with the AWM Business & Technology teams as well as the Firmwide CDO team to deliver robust platforms and effective operating models to ensure sound management of our data.

The Data Controls Project Manager will be responsible for implementing data controls standards on CORE business processes across AWM. Data controls are designed to mitigate the risk within a process of poor-quality data, unauthorized use of data, unauthorized access of data, misuse of sensitive data, and inappropriate retention or disposal of records. This individual will own the initiative to identify data controls in business processes starting in 2021 and act as a point person within CDO for controls related initiatives, going forward, covering areas of data governance and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

The Data Controls Project Manager will collaborate with Firm-wide and LoB Control Managers and Business Process Owners to lead the Data Controls implementation initiative. Specific areas of focus include:

- Develop the framework for Risk Based Approach for controls documentation in business processes.

- Work with the FDM Data Management team and Business Control Managers to refine AI/ML logic to identify whether a control or issue is data related.

- Conduct Gap Analysis on adequacy of data controls implementation. Issues identification and classification

- Identify reusable approaches to remediating controls and defining ongoing sustainable processes

- Develop subject matter expertise in data controls (Data control standards, Data control types, AM and WM business processes)

- Develop metrics, reporting and presentation materials that include key messages, control and operational effectiveness, and overall status

- Maintain strong network with key stakeholders including Business Process Owners, Business Control Managers, CCB Control Managers, Firmwide Data Controls Program and Compliance

- Serve as a key point of escalation and liaise with partners to resolve issues where required.

- Understand, assess and monitor records management risks and key risk indicators

- Support the rollout and maturity of the data controls implementation processes across AWM

- Partner with stakeholders and Controls Management to ensure appropriate control environment and manage/advise on escalated issues

Qualifications:

- 5-7 years of experience in Data Governance, Project Management, or Ops Risk and Controls functions

- Broad understanding of risk types, methodologies and framework for evaluating controls and identifying control deficiencies.

- Excellent management and delivery skills

- Strong interpersonal leadership, partnership and influencing skills - ability to interact with colleagues at all levels in a peer-like manner and achieve goals without direct control over resources

- Strategic thinker with the ability to quickly define and deconstruct problems leveraging strong analytical and end-to-end problem-solving skills.

- Ability to Synthesize data from variety of sources and deliver results quickly

- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with a fine attention to detail.

- Very detail oriented and able to abstract detail and impact to a higher level

- Independent, organized, self-motivated and a team player.

- Ability to think through and outline work processes in a thoughtful and detailed manner

- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively; be proactive in a fast-paced environment.

- Possesses excellent judgment, knows when to escalate complex issues to senior management or functional partners with relevant expertise.

- Adaptable to work in an evolving and changeable environment.

- Advanced skills with the core MS Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); Advanced skills with standard PM tools (e.g. MS Project); Familiarity with process-mapping tools (e.g. MS Visio, etc.)
