WM Counterparty Risk Associate

- The Risk Management function at JPMorgan Asset Management has dedicated teams with separate reporting lines from the Asset Management business. The role is for an Associate responsible for managing all aspects of the Wealth Management Counterparty Risk Oversight Framework.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage counterparty risk arising from Wealth Management activities and liaise with other Risk Management functions in relation to changing credit risk dynamics.
- Manage counterparty approval requests across various line of business stakeholders, legal, compliance, operations, etc.
- Establish and manage counterparty risk thresholds for trading activities such as securities lending, FX, bilateral derivatives, secondary loan trading, securities lending, repo, cleared derivatives, prime brokerage, etc.
- Manage unapproved counterparty exposures for review and escalation with lines of business
- Follow Counterparty Risk procedures and own the annual reviews of related standard operating procedures as well as inventory of control items and relevant audits
- Ongoing Risk Monitoring of WM counterparty risk through risk trigger reviews, portfolio deep dives and presentation of developing counterparty risk trends and exposure reporting
- Contribute to the design and review of analytics, risk assessment and exposure methodologies, and reporting capabilities.
- Contribute to team-wide efforts during stressed markets, ad hoc portfolio reviews and credible challenge as well as portfolio control initiatives.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 3+ Yrs of relevant exp. Demonstrable credit risk experience in managing FIG counterparties, such as banks, broker dealers, insurance and existing knowledge of factors which impact ratings criteria, outlooks, and exposure structuring.
- Strong ability to understand, question and assess complex issues with the ability to relate market events to risk positions and assess inter-related risks accordingly
- Solid knowledge of trading products and credit risk measurement methods (FX, Derivatives, Repos, CDS, structured products), contractual documentation and key credit risk terms to govern counterparty exposures
- Sound risk judgment based on fundamental risk assessments and understanding of key commercial considerations
- Verbal and written communication and presentation skills -ability to present risk exposure and appropriate risk mitigation options to management and other internal stakeholders
- Ability to fulfill initiatives with minimal supervision and ensure appropriate prioritization and sense of urgency
- Attention to detail & strong team player- ability to take personal responsibility, listens and considers the views of others, drives solutions to be reached with due consideration and as efficiently as possible
- Experience with investment products including fixed income, equity, and mutual funds preferred
- Appreciate the value of working in partnership with others to accomplish our goals
- Use your knowledge to find answers to problems and create workable solutions
- Can handle many different tasks and demonstrate a willingness to take on responsibilities that might lay outside your area of expertise
