JP Morgan - India Equity Sales Associate


Job summary:

- As an Associate in Equity Sales, you will be responsible for stockbroking, developing and maintaining key institutional investor client relationships, playing a central role in distributing JP Morgan's India and global equity product and partnering with our leading Capital Markets team to deliver deals to our investor clients.


- You will be part of the India Equity Sales team based in Mumbai, working closely with the India sales and sales trading teams, global sales teams and broader research and equities teams.


- You should have an understanding of the equities product, and be able to market the product effectively to a broad range of clients (such as asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, mutual funds, hedge funds etc.)


- The ideal candidate should also be able to generate fundamental stock ideas and share market insights.


- Existing client relationships / experience in dealing with equities clients would be a plus.


- Proficiency in writing and speaking on the markets / stocks is an essential.


- An ideal candidate will bring a collaborative approach, working with business partners across trading, research, syndicate, capital markets, investor access and others to provide comprehensive client coverage, delivering the whole firm in order to maximize the client experience.


- You will need to demonstrate proficiency in identifying market drivers while showing a high degree of interest in learning about other products in order to develop cross-product skill sets.


- The ideal candidate will have strong intellectual curiosity, a high degree of organization and attention to detail, ability to multi-task and be able to perform well under high pressure situations with the appropriate degree of urgency.

Job responsibilities:

- Supporting senior sales in India with handling daily client requests whilst independently covering investor clients;

- Pro-actively learn about the research, corporate access and ECM products with the aim of providing the full suite of JP Morgan's equity products to the client;

- Generate fundamental stock ideas to be marketed to clients and sales/trading partners;

- Work closely with research partners to deliver on client requirements;

- Setting up analyst and corporate meetings for JP Morgan's clients;

- Build a foundation of trust with colleagues and clients by demonstrating an understanding of their needs, clearly articulating ideas, and being responsive;

- Understand and comply with the firm's code of conduct, strictly follow applicable legal, regulatory rules and policies; and understand our approach and policies for managing risks in relevant business areas.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

- Minimum 3 years' experience on the equities sell side

- An analytical thinker who has strong attention to detail

- Strong understanding of fundamental product

- Clear, logical thinker with strong qualitative abilities

- Strong team player who is detail oriented with a highly disciplined approach to process and quality control

- Ability to learn quickly, multi-task and self-manage priorities

- Effective communication skills to interact with internal partners and clients

- Strong proficiency in Bloomberg, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

- Bachelor's/Master's degree required

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills: Existing equities client relationships / interaction is a plus
