ITC - Principal Technologist - Soaps Product Development - Personal Care

Job Purpose :

Creating and building a differentiated portfolio of soap products to help sustain and grow soaps business through technology leadership and world class product/technology development.

A challenging role that provides scope for both business width and technical depth in the domain of personal cleansing products for ITC. The role integrates and synergizes R&D, manufacturing & marketing by a) creating new concepts that would enable a continuous pipeline of new consumer relevant products, b) building and sustaining world class systems and practices with regard to technology adaptation and roll out c) being the resident expert in soaps formulation, processing and in troubleshooting technical challenges d) demonstrated deliveries in next generation novel benefit delivery through soap products e) bringing in world class knowledge in the chemistry and processing oils and fats.

Principal Accountability & Responsibilities :

- This senior management level position reports into the Chief Technologist- Personal Care

- Expert accountability in the areas of New product development in soaps, project management, claims strategy and technology scanning/landscaping for Personal Cleansing area.

- Interface with scientists teams, marketing and manufacturing on issues related to formulation, technology development and product launches.

- Responsible for developing products by scientific design of experiments that would deliver novel claims through product design of bars, liquids and new formats

- Create and build - opportunities for growth- via technology scanning, understanding competitor product strategies in the personal wash domain.

- Generate ideas and create concepts for language generation for communication of differentiated claims, substantiated by rigorous scientific data.

- Work with brand management, manufacturing and legal team to ensure systems, processes for implementation of product claims and ideas are in conformance to standards and quality.

- Lead a team of junior scientists and research associates in the Soaps domain.

Knowledge, Skills & Requirements :

- Knowledge of the process of Product Development in the industry

- Knowledge of personal care products particularly soaps

- Fully operational in creating technical product briefs, engagement with consumer insight teams.

- Appreciation of active ingredients and ways to translate the benefit gaps / build claims into products in a cost effective manner

Experience : At least 10 years experience in soap or allied industry, product formulation development, soap ingredient chemistry

Qualifications PhD : Chemical Engineering /Oils and Fats, Chemistry or a Master's degree with at least 15 years experience in soaps industry
