Job description (Mechanical)
- Study and analysis of technology to determine patentability through literature searches
- Business analysis in technology segments
- Drafting a complete patent application for an invention disclosure in accordance with a patent office (USPTO/EPO) guidelines
- Tracking filed patent applications
- Portfolio Analysis
- Infringement/overlap Analysis
- Identifying Licensing Opportunities
- Assessment of commercial potential of technologies vis-à-vis existing technologies and market players
Job Responsibilities (Pharma)
- Study / analysis of inventions to determine patentability
- Prepare robust search strategies to search and identify relevant patent and scientific literature in a given technology domain, and subsequent analysis.
- Analysis of a portfolio of patents / patent applications in a given technology domain
- Critical analysis of patents and products to determine potential infringement and licensing opportunities
- Track / monitor published patent applications and issued patents throughout their life cycle
- Identify key features of a product / technology and map these features on to patented subject matter to determine freedom to operate
- Identify and report innovations in a specific technology domain through analysis of patent, product, and academic literature
- Assessment of commercial potential of new technologies vis-à-vis existing technologies and market players
- Prepare research reports to be shared with scientists / R&D Managers / technical personnel of the client organization etc.
Job description (Chemicals)
- To work on projects related to identification of latest developments (using latest patent/scientific publications) in specific technological domains such as construction chemicals/additives, adhesives, sealants, membranes and chemistry based acoustic solutions
- To search on various patent databases and technical analysis of the patents
- To search on various non-patent databases and analysis of the scientific literature published in various journals/magazines
- To prepare research reports which will be sent to scientists/R&D Managers/ technologists of the client organization
- Ability to work in a team and contribution to the learning/knowledge of the team is critical.
- Client interaction on live projects (written/voice)
Functional competencies required
- Thorough understanding of Chemicals, Petrochemicals and Polymers
- Knowledge of patent terminology and basics of patent systems (US, EP WIPO)
- Knowledge of content & bibliographic search on various non-patent publication houses e.g. Science Direct, Wiley Interscience, Springerlink, ACS etc.
- Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
Education & Experience B.Tech. /M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering/ Chemical technology with specialization (or electives) in Paints and Coatings/ Petrochemicals/ Polymer or Plastic technology Or M.Sc./ PhD (Industrial Chemistry/ Organic Chemistry)
