Investment Analyst - Venture Capital/Private Equity Transactions

This role is with one of our Bangalore based clients, which is a venture capital fund focused on investments in early stage start ups. The role will include, but is not limited to:

1) Research-led origination

a) Conduct detailed sector research including education, healthcare and agriculture.

b) Co-author thought leadership reports, documents and studies.

c) Develop themes that will address big problems in the target sectors and deliver market-level returns and impact.

d) Identify investment targets with focus on research led origination.

e) Work with partners to develop investment targets.

f) Manage the deal pipeline and market intelligence.

2) Underwriting

a) Conduct comprehensive diligence including the team, business, operations, technology, legal, financial and impact related areas.

b) Underwrite business plan alongside the investment lead, operating team and the investee.

c) Prepare proposals for investment committee approval.

d) Manage the deal closure.

3) Portfolio management

a) Prepare the company for detailed investor reporting including impact metrics.

b) Manage monthly reporting with investees and internal review meetings.

c) Support the fund nominee to effectively carry the board responsibilities.

d) Manage competitive benchmarking.

e) Provide support to the entrepreneur in talent gap identification and working capital sourcing.

4) Exit management

a) Support the risk management activities of the fund in relation to assigned investees.

b) Work with the investment and operating lead to prepare the company for exits.

Desired qualifications and background:

- MBA, CFA or other similar qualifications.

- 5+ years of relevant post-qualification experience.

- Prior experience in the target sectors is preferred - agriculture, healthcare, education.

- Prior business research, strategy consulting and/or investing experience is preferred.

- Demonstrated commitment to building a career in the for-profit impact investment space.

- Strong research and analytical orientation are necessary.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.

- Required aptitude for proactive problem-solving with bias for action and outcomes.

- Ability to work under pressure and deliver a high-quality work with tight timelines.

Location: Bangalore (candidates with different location preference need not apply)

Compensation: Competitive, based on the prevailing market norms
