Role - Investment Analyst
Job Purpose:
Responsible for assisting Portfolio Managers in providing the required support to manage portfolio companies, enhance their performance, and maximize SALIC investment returns. Additionally, assisting in managing the M&A transaction process. Furthermore, such responsibilities include communicating with portfolio companies on their operational, financial, and technical performance. In addition, building financial models and valuation for existing portfolio companies and new M&A opportunities.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:Performance Acceleration Planning:- Participate in strategic reviews, business planning process/plan preparation and relevant policy updates and provide responses to relevant queries from different stakeholders.
- May act in various Governance roles such as Board Committee Member or Advisor to represent SALIC as a shareholder.
Performance Analysis:- Communicate with portfolio companies on a regular basis and obtain financial and non-financial information; to ensure alignment between SALIC's strategic direction and the results of portfolio companies.
- Develop periodic performance reports and engage with portfolio companies to obtain the necessary financial, operational, and technical data.
- Collaborate with the Analyst, Portfolio Companies Reporting to obtain financial data and the status of the companies' financial statuses and use such data in analyzing portfolio companies' financial performances.
- Ensure that portfolio companies are in full compliance with the governance framework and escalate/report deviations to the VP of Portfolio Management
- Support the Portfolio Manager in coordinating with the internal Stakeholders (HR, Finance, Legal.etc.) to offer full support to portfolio companies.
Financial Analysis:- Build financial models and valuation analysis on existing and new investment opportunities using multiple valuation approaches.
- Conduct research on financial and non-financial data and benchmarking against industry standards. (i.e. financial analysis and research include reviewing forecasts related to key financial matters like profitability, cash flow, ROI/other ratios.etc.).
- Work with various external stakeholders (partners, regulatory authorities, industry trade groups, and different advisors.
- Conduct internal due diligence, manage, or coordinate external due diligence and assist in deal structuring. SALIC - Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company Investment Associate Page 2 of 4.
- Apply financial models for discounted cash flow, market multiple, market transaction and analysis and conduct scenario analysis for acquired assets and present findings to VP, Investments.
- Liaise with external consultants on various projects like business valuation analysis, financial trending, and modelling.
Reporting and Presentations:- Prepare presentations and recommendations for existing portfolio companies and new investment opportunities and present a comprehensive analysis and rationale.
- Review market intelligence and financial analysis on potential business transactions and provide reports on recommended actions to be taken on prospective opportunities.
- Prepare required reports in a timely manner related to portfolio companies, submit to VP- Portfolio Management, and provide status updates upon request.
- Assist in preparing regular portfolio and M&A reports for the assigned projects, updating the budgets, and conducting variation analysis against approved budgets.
Market Intelligence:- Conduct critical exercises pertaining to market intelligence and economics trends, both locally and globally, and collaborate with Markets team on market conditions. Keep abreast on changes in local and international laws and regulations impacting agribusiness and related industries.
- Provide advisory and guidance to Analysts, Market Research/Valuation; in order to ensure knowledge sharing and awareness of relevant market trends and best practices and their application within SALIC.
- Engage in the interactions with experts, partners, competitors, suppliers, professional organizations etc. to stay abreast of dedicated industry or business trends.
Reporting & Other Duties:- Perform any other duties related to the job as assigned by the Direct Manager.
- Prepare and submit reports that cover portfolio companies' activities for the Direct Manager, as requested.
Key Performance Indicators:Indicator:- Portfolio companies monthly reporting
- Quality of performance reports
- Portfolio companies' compliance to regulatory requirements
Measure:- Accuracy of data used in the performance reports.
- Appraisal of VP of Portfolio Management on reports' maturity and comprehensiveness.
- Audit checks results.
Job Requirements: Qualifications and Certifications:
- Bachelor's/PG degree in finance or equivalent.
- CFA is preferred.
