Pre-Requisites :

- Experience 3-8 years of which 3 years of experience should be in a reputed educational institution or equivalent combination of formal education and relevant work experience in an academic environment.

Student Advocate, Planner Evaluator, Assessor & Counselor :
- Is involved with all activities governing student advocacy.
- Creates, disseminates and implements institutional policies and procedures to students.
- Advises, counsels and serves as a role model for students.
- Plays an intermediary role between institutional administrators and enrolled students.
- During the course of playing this role, he/she may encounter inevitable conflicts of interest, the position demands that Student Affairs Manager pre-empt such situations and deal with it proactively and responsibly.
- Plays an important role in student's career planning activities and programs.
- Represents student issues and points of view at the institutional planning level, including such areas as changes in academic schedules, curricular structures, etc.
- Is responsible for advising students following their violation of Institute's policies and procedures.
- Handles with great care students exhibiting problems associated with substance abuse, loss of emotional control, entitlement, and other personality-related issues when they become apparent to members of the faculty or staff or to fellow students.
- Carefully deals with various other problems, including personal hygiene issues, dress code violations, financial concerns, family matters, and professionalism-related difficulties.
- Since building effective support networks is necessary for student success, the role requires he/she helps students achieve a sense of belonging, build a sense of community, ensure that students actively support each other, and build an allegiance to the Institution.
Pastoral Care and Welfare :
- There could be occasions when it will be essential to show sensitivity to those who may need help or, in extreme cases, are showing signs of obvious distress and the post holder will be required to initiate appropriate action by involving relevant people.
- Be proactive in identifying any areas of pastoral concern and relay these to the appropriate individual and support service.
General Responsibilities :
- Leads and represents the Department of Student Affairs and Services in the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring safety of students, consistency of practice and maintenance of optimum service levels.
- Provides Institute-wide leadership by directing the departments' work with faculty and staff, colleagues, students and community partners in order to support, provide and/or facilitate activities that ensure that IIITS achieves its student leadership development, and engagement goals.
- Provides leadership, analysis and advice in relation to policies and procedures regarding students and services for students, including risk management.
- Ensures that the Department's budget is planned, prepared and monitored in keeping with IIITS's objectives, policies and procedures, and exercises signing authority on behalf of the Department for expenditures as assigned.
- Plans, organizes, directs, and administers activities and services that support students in assigned areas, and ensures that such activities and services remain within budgetary limits.
- Develops, implements, monitors, and reviews tactical and operational plans, procedures, systems and support in accordance with the Institute's strategic goals, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Works with the Faculty Coordinators and other functional heads to ensure that applicable services and programs are planned, developed, regularly reviewed and updated, ensuring quality standards for program review.
- Addresses complaints and conducts investigations as required.
- Hire, orientate, and supervise team by performing such things as: direct, schedule, provide performance feedback, evaluate, suggest professional development and where necessary discipline direct reports and contracted employees. Manage the performance review process.
- Reviews and approves leaves relating to professional development and vacation, and administering sick leave and leave of absence requests.
- Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with the collective agreements and working conditions in effect at IIITS. Represents the Institute in the grievance procedure.
- Directs the IIITS's participation in inter-University level activities or in initiatives of any other association as required.
- Leads or participates in divisional or Institution-wide initiatives and committees as assigned by the Head of the Institute or any other senior management.
- Represents IIITS and its interests before government agencies, other institutions, various organizations and groups.
