India Country Controller/Finance Director - BFS/IT

We are Looking for India Country Controller / Finance Director for US Base company setting of operation in Chennai India. This position will report to the Global Controller based in the US.

Purpose of Role :

The Head Country Controller will lead the Finance department in India and is responsible for the following functions: Accounting & Reporting, Accounts Payable, Cash Reconciliations, Tax, and Payroll.

Responsibilities include - 

- Manage the local controllership function.

- Responsibility for the day-to-day control and update of accounting records. Production of accurate and timely financial statements.

- Oversee and manage the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close processes.

- Ensure India GAAP and US-GAAP accounting standards are applied. Drive best-practice around accounting transactions and account reconciliations. Assist in the closing and consolidation cycles, in addition to the timely preparation of intercompany reconciliations

- Establish and maintain policies and procedures for proper accounting and financial operations.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

- Drive change locally with regard to standardization and simplification.

- Act as the principal custodian of internal controls within India and manage the local reporting process including reviewing against best practice.

- Ensure the safeguarding of assets and accuracy of financial information systems.

- Act as the main point of contact for all local internal audit and compliance review assignments, including any SOX or distributed audits.

- Ensure tax compliance and reporting requirements are met.

- Manage the statutory and tax accounting and audit processes and act as the single point of contact for external auditors and/or tax and statutory authorities.

- Ensure weekly payroll processes operate smoothly and that timely reconciliation to the ledgers is performed. Ability to effectively partner with Human Resources and Legal to ensure that employees are delighted with all aspects of their payroll experience.

- Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled timely in accordance with policies and there is follow up of open items.

- Assist in management with day-to-day India cash operations. Review daily cash positioning, accurate execution of transfers, and that control and appropriate authorizations are in place.

- Provide leadership and direction to the Controllership team to ensure key milestones and objectives are met. Create and foster a positive, high-performance work environment and provide appropriate career growth and development opportunities for the team.

In order to fulfill the responsibilities, the successful candidate should have the following skill set and experience:

- Degree in Finance or Accounting

- Local or International Accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, ACMA, or other)

- Fluency in English

- Outstanding and proven people leadership ability

- Very strong interpersonal skills

- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience as a Finance Controller in a medium to a large international company

- External audit or public accounting experience highly preferred

- Knowledge and experience with local statutory requirements and statutory audits (Local GAAP, statutory financial statements, tax calculations, VAT returns)

- Knowledge and experience with India GAAP US-GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)

- Experience with ERP systems (preferably Workday)

- PC literate, excellent Microsoft Office skills
