The team is responsible for implementing Index ideas in the form of investable benchmarks, testing Index methodologies, benchmark determination and dissemination process which includes ongoing calculation, publication and maintenance of benchmarks. BAT is a global team with offices in London, Hong Kong, Mumbai, New York and Buffalo and continued growth in business has meant that we are looking to increase the size of

This is an opportunity to join Mumbai team in a role with primary responsibilities -
- Data management including securities maintenance internally, cross vendor identifier mapping, market data maintenance which includes price, corporate events, exchange calendars
- Process improvements in data management
- Ongoing maintenance which includes calculation, reconciliation and reporting for cross-asset benchmarks
- Develop understanding of Index calculation models.
Responsibilities:
- Develops new benchmark index models alongside structuring, quant analysts and IT
- Oversees daily production and reconciliation of benchmark index models
- Supports the management team by owning projects and processes and being responsible for mentoring more junior team members
- Focuses on risk control aspect of data management and index calculation and reconciliation processes
- Works with/support team mates and stakeholders in other regions
- Trains more junior team members on data handling and index calculation and reconciliation processes
- Develops new benchmark index models alongside structuring, quant analysts and IT
- Oversees daily production and reconciliation of benchmark index models cross asset
- Improves Benchmark Index and risk control processes
- Understands and supports governance, audit and regulatory aspects of the business
- Works in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
- Builds a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
- Appropriately assesses risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm's reputation
- Adheres to Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services
- Adheres to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated
- Obtains and maintains all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safe guarding, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
