Job Purpose:
The General Ledger - Assistant Finance Manager (GL AFM) is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records by overseeing general ledger (GL) operations, conducting periodic reviews, and coordinating internal and external audits.
The role involves ensuring compliance with financial policies, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards while supporting continuous process improvements.
The GL AFM will work closely with auditors, finance teams, and key stakeholders to ensure smooth audit processes, timely financial reporting, and effective risk management.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Consolidation:
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
- Generate and analyze MIS reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Perform variance analysis on financial statements and report key findings to management.
Cash Flow Management & Forecasting:
- Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring optimal liquidity management.
- Prepare cash flow statements and periodic cash flow forecasts.
- Coordinate with banks and financial institutions for cash management activities.
Audit & Compliance (Internal & External):
- Manage statutory and internal audits, ensuring compliance with accounting and regulatory requirements.
- Address and resolve audit queries by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Implement audit recommendations and improve financial processes based on audit findings.
Budgeting & Financial Planning:
- Prepare annual budgets, income statements, and balance sheets.
- Assist in forecasting financial performance and identifying areas for cost control.
- Ensure adherence to budgetary controls and report deviations to management.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:
KPI Preparation for the Operations Team:
- Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and financial performance.
- Support in setting performance benchmarks and evaluating operational outcomes against financial goals.
Process Improvements & Internal Controls:
- Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization in financial reporting.
- Strengthen internal controls to minimize risks and ensure accurate financial data.
- Develop and update finance policies and SOPs as per industry best practices.
Stakeholder Coordination & Support:
- Assist senior management with financial analysis, ad-hoc reports, and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions.
Financial System Management & Reconciliations:
- Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of general ledger transactions.
- Maintain financial records and support system enhancements for better reporting efficiency.
Qualification: CA/MBA/Graduation in finance stream with minimum 50%.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in a financial position.
Good to have:
- Experience in working with ERP systems is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Financial regulations and accounting principles.
Skills & Competencies (Must Have):
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and financial reporting.
- Experience in consolidated financial statements & MIS reporting.
- Hands-on experience with internal & statutory audits.
- Expertise in GL reconciliations, variance analysis & internal controls.
- Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting & cash flow management.
- Ability to develop & track KPIs for operational performance.
- Strong command of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) & financial tools.
- Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Macros) & BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong analytical & problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication & stakeholder management.
Skills & Competencies (Good to Have):
- Experience in process automation & financial system enhancements.
- Knowledge of taxation laws & regulatory compliance.
- Exposure to financial risk assessment & mitigation strategies.
- Familiarity with digital finance transformation & AI-driven analytics.
- Prior experience in team leadership & mentoring.
