The Opportunity :
- HSBC has a strong Fixed Income Research franchise having consistently been ranked #1 in the Euromoney Survey for several years. The team is well known for their non-consensus, low for longer outlook on Rates.
- HSBC Global Research, Bangalore
- As a member of the Global Research team in Bangalore, you will be working with onshore counterparts building new tools and leveraging existing ones to support market recommendations and investment ideas.
What You'll Do?
- To be an integral team member of the fixed income - rates team within Global Research:
- Work closely with senior analysts in the FI research team
- Understand the basic concepts of bond math and be comfortable with statistical analysis
- Show a strong inclination to learn and understand the fixed income markets
- Develop new and maintain existing tools for analysing opportunities in the markets
- Track issuance patterns for different geographies
- Maintain and update various databases
- Monitor models and summarize market conditions and opportunities
- Contributing to research publications
- Work on requests in a timely and accurate manner
Key Responsibilities :
- Global risk objective
- Understand and adhere to both the letter and the spirit of all laws, regulations and regulatory guidance that apply to the role, promptly reporting any breaches in accordance with local procedures.
- Maintain sufficient and effective processes and controls identifying and mitigating risks and ensure timely escalation and resolution of all control issues and reputation risks
- The role will require collaborating with the on-shore Rates team to support writing research reports and research operations
- Compliance
- DIM/FIM: Adherence to Global Research's policies and procedures as laid out in the Desk Instruction Manual (DIM), Functional Instruction Manual (FIM) and any other relevant group policies and procedures
- Conduct Risk: Adherence to: (1) the Conduct Risk agenda, ensuring full compliance with the High Performance Culture and Values programme; (2) Group directives regarding Global Standards; (3) the Three Lines of Defence
- Mandatory Training: Ensure 100% completion of your mandatory training on time
What you'll need to succeed in the role?
- Excellent Excel/VBA, SQL skills
- Intermediate/Advanced Statistics
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Team orientated and have individual drive
- Hands-on experience in dealing and managing large data sets is highly desirable
- Proactivity, positive attitude and high energy are key personal/professional attributes. Constant communication and collaboration with teammates.
- Strong Python programming skills will be an added advantage
- Degree from (IITs/NITs/BITS Pilani preferable but not necessary) in a quantitative discipline such as math, science, engineering, computer science
- Pursuing CFA program (any level)
- Strong knowledge of bond math and quantitative techniques with strong exposure to VBA based modelling and/or R, Python
- Minimum 1-2 years in a related field within Financial Services
- Understanding of financial markets and various asset classes is a must
- Systems
- Proficient with MS office
- Knowledge of financial databases such as Bloomberg and/or Reuters (good to have)
