We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager Risk Control and Reporting


Department Overview:


- The Risk Controls Team is responsible to assist and co-ordinate the management of operational and credit risk activities throughout Europe


- The team is responsible for monitoring of operational risk metrics and preparation of management information for senior executives. Additionally, the team is required to co-ordinate and ensure controls environment are implemented in accordance with bank policy and on a timely basis, these to include, but are not limited to, Risk Assessments, where required, Control demand, Management Self-Identified Issues, Audit issues, Information Security Risk, Sarbanes Oxley documentation and internal controls.


Responsibilities:


The main purpose of this role is to:


- Understand and implement operational risk strategy across Wholesale Credit Risk business


- Monitor, collate and prepare management information on Operational Risk performance and assist in identifying improve processes, where appropriate.


- Provide sound advice and guidance on Operational Risk activities to all wholesale teams across Europe.


- Undertakes sampling of Credit Control Reports for GBM Risk Identification.


- Understands and advises on Overdue Credit Reviews as second line of defense.


- Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations including HSBC Global Standards and taking necessary steps to address any audit findings.


What youll do:


- Sarbanes Oxley, Global Risk, etc. ensuring that the job holder can assist with all operational risk and credit risk activities


- Ability to influence and share best practice across HBEU Wholesale Credit Risk business


- Proactively review Operational Risk activities/processes to optimize risk management whilst facilitating sustainable cost saves.


- Group Risk management controls to be rigorously applied.


- Operate in accordance with FIMs, BIMs, and Compliance policy.


- If appropriate, suggest and seek improvements to policy/controls to mitigate risks within HBEU Wholesale Credit Risk business.


- Maintain proactive dialog with senior management and teams, ensuring that Operational and Credit Risk strategies are embedded within Wholesale Credit Risk culture.


- Demonstrate Role Model characteristics.


- Build long lasting relationships with key stakeholders


Qualifications:


Eligibility Criteria :


Knowledge:


- Graduates and above with direct working experience of operational risk, preferably in a credit risk environment


- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and to use these products for data analysis and streamlining the process.


- Proven ability to engage with internal stakeholders regularly by understanding and sharing commercial practices, challenges and potential solutions by working collaboratively.


- Learn & understand end to end processes.


- Knowledge of Operational Risk system Helios is good to have


- Experience in Python/VBA will be preferred

- Good communication skills, both written and spoken English.


- Sound analytical skills and keen attention to detail.


- Quick learner with the ability and desire to become a SME in technical areas


- Manage self in a positive, engaging, thoughtful and constructive manner, from a role which often has a material influence on outcomes.


- Operate under rigid timelines to generate complex reports, in many cases with imperfect data.


- Develop & improve level of engagement and networking with the respective departments through efficient use of the available communication tools & effective networking.


- Assist in compiling insightful reports and minutes for governance meetings.


- Proven ability to prioritize competing demands and manage stakeholder expectations. This role is expected to have multiple deliverables with multiple team members at one time.


- Able to take ownership, respond to feedback and suggest viable alternative approaches.


- Ability to work independently.


- Ensuring consistency of service and demonstrating the HSBC's Values.


Qualifications:


- Graduate or Post-Graduate in Commerce/ Finance/Economics/ Engineering or related field


Experience:


- Experience in corporate banking / wholesale risk management/ portfolio management in multiple corporate sectors/ geographies.


- Professional experience in a financial services or consulting firm.


- Prior experience in dealing with virtual business partners across the globe.
