Department Overview : Global Service Delivery is a business-aligned, customer-servicing organization with the primary objective of driving operational excellence across our businesses worldwide. Achieving this through the consolidation, simplification, and continuous improvement of processes across the full range of HSBC operations, the division simultaneously takes responsibility for managing operational, location and processing risk and ensuring that services provided are at a best-in-class price point for the required quality level. The objective of Master Data Management is to support the business in the collation and accurate representation of the GB and CMB client base for BFCR, finance, wholesale market risk and relationship management. Enabling the business to manage their financial crime risks, profitability, and growth accurately and consistently. The team is an integral part of Data & Analytics Office.


Responsibilities :


- The purpose of Master Data Management (MDM) is to capture and maintain the data required by the GB and CMB Business to effectively manage client relationships from a commercial and risk perspective.


- The principal focus is to ensure data sources and processes are managed to ensure data integrity. In this context these sources and processes are those which impact the Wholesale Client Lists.


Based on this context, the advertised role plays a key role in :


- Being an SME, in relation to Data Governance, Data Strategy, Data Quality and Data Management including proven working experience in relation to Data Standards, for at least 5-8 years.


- Having detailed understanding of the end-to-end service, product provisions, data processes and data flows from source systems.


- Provide support to the regional/global MDM customers and stakeholders within the remit of the approved MDM Service catalogue. Where deviations from the catalogue exist ensure that these are identified and communicated to the Global Management team for review.


- Independently eradicate identified problems, analyze, standardize, classify data quality issues using prevalent data quality strategies by applying tools.


- Develop / revise / reassess data remediation metrics and procedures for effective project delivery with reduced cost and sustainable quality.


- Take effective decisions and identify and resolve complex queries including stakeholder escalations.


- Guide and support the management to take strategic decisions.


- Initiate, conduct and manage complex projects within MDM.


- To work collaboratively with Product owner and in gathering, translating, and clarifying requirements and defining design options.


- To work with country team/ business with the translation of business requirements and designs into more detailed functional requirements.


- Take lead in Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and deliver solutions using various tools and languages like Oracle, VBA, MS access, MS Visio, etc.


- Lead, Drive and manage Implementation including planning, controlling, and reporting on implementation of the change product, focusing on accelerating benefits and minimizing risk during deployment. Implementation activities will also include managing implementation readiness and managing the early stages of implementation (e.g., pilot).


- Understand complex issues and review large amounts of data to identify the appropriate action/ solution.


- Experience of handling medium to large product related projects/work streams in terms of system implementation, requirement gathering, analyzing the requirements, drafting, and finalizing BRD, working closely with the country teams, is mandatory.


- Leading teams across MDM within and outside of base location to perform core day to day activities as well as identifying, understanding, and communicating, issues or challenges which may occur and where possible recommending actions to manage or resolve


- Take lead responsibility for identifying, understanding, and communicating product development opportunities and associated business outcomes


- Demonstrated experience in building Terms of References / Business Requirement document as applicable and procure approvals from the relevant Project Managers & Sponsors.


- Lead and execute the assigned projects / analysis as per the agreed timelines and with accuracy and quality.


- Contribute to team development, effectiveness, and success by sharing knowledge and best practice.


- Assertively challenge and manage all stakeholders including Senior Managers to act within a deadline.


- The individual will also continuously reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices and the impact of new technology.


- Lead, Drive, and support data quality projects / initiatives and/ or statistical analysis within MDM.


- Independently deliver end to end results on various Projects / Initiatives.


Qualifications :


All interested applicant should have the following skills and must meet the following requirements. It is essential to demonstrate or display evidence of the below in the CV while applying for this position:


- 8 years plus working knowledge of client reference data


- Understanding of the financial industry gained through experience or training courses


- Understanding of Payments, Accounts and Products, KYC, Credit & Lending


- Demonstrable experience in design, build and implementation of Target Operation Model and Governance


- Experience or qualifications in programming languages, preferably including Python and SQL


- Understanding data lineage, profiling & data quality measurement


- Experience in data management and data governance.


- Project Management Skills, with prior experience in managing change, technology build and implementation/ integration, delivering requirements to customer, and collaborating with IT


- Demonstrable experience in Agile and Waterfall framework and project methodologies


- Drive PoC and productionisation of use cases for tooling, delivery, and consumer adoption


Knowledge and experience on :


- BRDs (business requirements documentation)


- Requirement gathering and acceptance criterias


- Prioritization methodologies (MOSCOW)


- Validations and Testing


- Analytical thinking and problem solving


- Excellent interpersonal skills ability to work across organizations to understand the current data issues.


- Excellent written and verbal communication


- Demonstration of supporting team members or customers either from a formal training or subject matter expert perspective
