Role Title: Lead - HR & IR Business: Roofing Business

Department: Human Resources Age: 32-38 years Grade: B4 Designation: Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

- Educational : Any graduation preferably should be a B.A. /L.L.B.

- Must be Post Graduate in Social Work / Social Sciences or Human Resource Management.

- Professional : 8-10 years of experience in Industrial relations at plant level, having exposure to Unions, Wage Settlement& Employee relations in related industry.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

- Reporting Matrix: Administrative Reporting: Unit Head

- Functional Reporting: Head- HR & IR (Corporate)

Roles Reporting to this position:

- Administrative Reporting: Member- HR & IR (Plant)

- Functional Reporting: Member- HR & IR (Plant)

ROLE:

Candidate should be responsible for Human Resources, Industrial Relations, & administrative activities of the manufacturing unit.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1) Employee/Industrial Relations:

- Collective bargaining and accountable for reaching Long term wage settlements in the unit and monitor company or workforce adherence to Long term settlement.

- Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering Management policies and helping resolve work-related problems and work place conflicts and resolving employee grievances

2) Employees Welfare & Community Development:

- Implementation of Safety at the plant and assist the unit in preventing the personal injuries and maintaining a safe work environment by way of making protective clothing and work permit system etc mandatory

- Rationalization of manpower by way of legal way/V E R S

- In charge of security, emergency & contracts.

- Implement an annual objective programme & performance appraisal system for all associates, objective setting process to be evaluated on a half yearly basis.

- Regulating the employee cost and over time and enhancing employee productivity and inculcation of multi-skilling concept

- Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.

3) Employee Management & Development:

- Identifying the training needs, conducting training programmes (Internal & External) in consultation with the Unit Head and Functional Managers.

- Employee Education, Employee Development and Employee Motivation.

- Implementation of Performance Management system ( PMS) in the unit and facilitate in objective setting process in collaboration with the Unit head and functional managers

- Developing effective communication and counselling system with the employees

4) Statutory Compliances:

- Represent the Management in the Company's case in conciliation proceedings & Labour court in an effective/suitable manner.

- Responsible for employee discipline as per the provisions of Service conduct rules/ Certified/ Model standing orders applicable to the company.

- Facilitate the unit head for compliance with various provisions of the laws related to various Technical aspects laid down under Factories Act, Pollution control Act, Explosives Act, etc and ensure that the timelines are followed.

- To ensure compliance of wage-related laws like PF, Gratuity, Payment of Wages Act, Maternity Act, ESIC Act.

5) Develop systems for compliance and review:

- Create cordial relations with the general public through various CSR initiatives

- Accountable for preparing Annual Salary and Wage Budgets of the Unit for the respective financial years in consultation with the unit head.

- Develop staffing plans in consultation with Unit Heads & co-ordinate recruitment, interview, selection, appointment of candidates and monitoring their progress till confirmation.

- Preparing and maintaining Human Resource Information System( HRIS)

- Responsible for administrative activities like travel, transportation, Hotel Accommodation, stationery, printing, telephone, fax.

MEASURES:

- Reduction in employee turnover - Measured in percentage

- Percentage of man days lost due to strikes.

- Regulatory compliance on time.

- Revenue per employee - Measured in metric tonnes per person

- Overhead cost control as per the budget.

SKILLS:

Behavioural Skills:

1) Communication:

Ability to freely discuss the information with the stakeholders in a positive way, and open to feedback or criticism.

2) Customer Orientation:

Should be customer-sensitive, take timely feedback from them and address their complaints immediately.

3) Planning & Execution:

Breaking the assignment into major milestones, and assigning timelines for each one, considering Risk factors in the planning process.

4) Negotiation skills:

To come to a mutually beneficial solution.

5) Personal Effectiveness:

Is an initiator, takes ownership of the tasks allotted to him, and sticks to the timelines assigned.

Functional Skills:

1) Knowledge of liaising with local government authorities to carry of statutory formalities

2) Knowledge of the local laws.

3) Experience is handling labor unions.
