Role Summary:


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sourcing Manager responsible for identifying, onboarding, and managing artisan clusters and suppliers across India. This role is crucial in developing a robust and ethical supply chain that meets global quality standards while preserving the authenticity and cultural value of handcrafted products.


Key Responsibilities:


Artisan Cluster Development:


- Identify, assess, and onboard artisan groups and clusters across key craft regions.


- Maintain an active database of suppliers, artisans, and clusters based on product categories and potential.


- Collaborate with Regional Coordinators to build long-term, fair-trade partnerships.


Vendor and Supplier Management:


- Evaluate supplier capabilities, quality, capacity, and ethical compliance.


- Ensure timely procurement of high-quality handcrafted products.


- Develop vendor scorecards and conduct periodic performance evaluations.


Product & Material Sourcing:


- Source raw materials and artisanal products, including textiles, metal wares, wood wares, hand-printed fabrics, and more.


- Collaborate with design and capacity-building teams to implement product development and design interventions.


Process & Compliance:


- Establish and maintain systems for quality control, packaging, and logistics in coordination with internal teams.


- Ensure all sourcing activities align with fair trade, sustainability, and heritage preservation principles.


Market Research & Demand Mapping:


- Conduct research on domestic and international demand trends.


- Identify emerging craft segments and assess sourcing feasibility.


Required Skills & Qualifications:


- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.


- 3+ years of experience in sourcing, preferably in handicrafts, textiles, or artisan-led sectors.


- Deep understanding of Indian craft clusters, artisan ecosystems, and traditional art forms.


- Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor relationship skills.


- Commitment to ethical sourcing, sustainability, and community empowerment.


- Willingness to travel extensively across rural and semi-urban artisan hubs.


Preferred Attributes:


- Experience working with NGOs, cooperatives, or social enterprises.


- Knowledge of quality assurance practices and export standards.


- Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
