Head - Transportation
- Develop the long term / annual business plan for the transportation vertical
- Ensure coordination with the solutions team in line with stated requirements of existing customers and work towards formulation of suitable solutions for the same
- Provide inputs to the solutions team to derive innovative solutions in line with market best practices
- Guide the team in preparation of operational budget for transportation and hub activities
- Present and finalize the transportation budget with the Leadership team and monitor adherence to the same
- Finalize key business metrics and KPIs and periodically share the planned v/s actual numbers against the same
- Ensure key reports regarding business performance are prepared and presented to the Leadership Team
- Provide high level requirements to IT Business Partner, for leveraging technology and implementing the required tools & applications that would improve operational efficiency
- Ensure effective usage of the ERP system in the business processes
- Drive cost efficiencies in transport planning operations and ensure optimum utilization of vehicles
- Periodically review the vehicle pool and ensure that the specifications/ standardization is as per requirements
- Review cases of non-availability of vehicles as per project /customer requirements
- Institutionalize a process for tracking of vehicles and ensure adherence to the same
- Guide the team in establishing a process for addressing transportation related contingencies (accidents, political unrest etc.) and ensure the process is communicated to customers as well
- Provide innovative solutions for optimum utilization of hub space
- Achieve cost efficiencies in hub management operations by reviewing and implementing certain best practices from the market
- Periodically visit hubs to review maintenance of premises, equipments
- Guide the team regarding preventive vehicle maintenance in order to minimize repairs and breakdowns
- Ensure all contracts and vehicles are complying comprehensively with statutory requirements including strict implementation of Drug and Alcohol policy
- Guide the team in successful implementation of projects
- Periodically review necessary data to ensure customers are provided/ serviced as per SLAs and issues are resolved as per defined timeframe
- Manage relationships with customers and share information on value additions with customers
- Ensure potential cost escalations are communicated to the customer and respond to any queries regarding the same from customers
- Guide the team in establishing a system for smooth communication flow for efficient operations
- Hold monthly meetings with the team to review and analyze performance gaps
- Periodically monitor labor management process including casual labour, to ensure adequate deployment of resources
- Ensure effective management of the team, by focusing on objective evaluation and development of subordinates
- Drive capability building and development of high potential talent and focus on creating a leadership pipeline within the vertical
- Ensure timely goal setting, performance review, feedback and development of subordinates in the team
- Identify and groom successors for critical roles within the department
- Ensure required training programs are conducted and attended by team members
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :
- % adherence to approved policies and processes for vertical
- % adherence to timelines for providing solutions to existing customers
- Quality of inputs shared for solution creation
- Timely completion of annual business planning, budget preparation and communication to Leadership team
