Head of Transaction Banking Products -Center of Excellence

PURPOSE : Transaction Banking (TB) is building a Center of Excellence in Bangalore and Kuala Lumpur.

Reports Directly to : COO Transaction Banking

Location : Bangalore

The objectives of the center are to :

- Improve capacity for the onshore teams to enable focus on driving TB to become a best in class product organization

- Strategically align resources where they are in close proximity to face off to collaborating functions such as the technology teams

- Build a best-in-class center for supporting capabilities ranging from content & marketing, product development to data analysis.

- The CoE will be an extension of the TB business where TB leadership has direct management and oversight of all CoE resources through the appointment of the Center Head role. 


- This role will provide strategic and BAU leadership for daily operation and running of the center from driving operation efficiency of the different classes of activities, continuously upskilling the capabilities of the team members, exploring opportunities for growing the importance of this center in delivering the TB Strategy. This position will be based in Bangalore.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Strategy :

- Position the TB CoE strategically for future growth

- Continuously seek opportunities from within the TB business (and potentially CCIB) to grow and scale the CoE by identifying onshore activity (strategic and BAU) that could be performed by the CoE.

- Provide core capabilities to support the product focused TB organization by maximizing economies of scale

- Oversee key strategic deliverables delivered out of Bangalore and KL

Business :

- Continuously improve, optimize and evolve the operating model to effectively support the onshore TB business

- Point of escalation for the key stakeholders (product teams, COO etc) based in the respective TB footprint locations

- Lead the stakeholder engagement to seek timely inputs, participate in developing business strategy and act on feedback on CoE performance

- Own and effectively manage the TB CoE budget

- Contribute to effectively managing the TB business bottom line

Processes :

- Continuously improve TB efficiency by simplifying and standardizing operational processes and procedures. Identify and implement best practices in resources and processes, ensuring consistency and standardization.

- Drive productivity by improving internal processes

People and Talent:

- Build and develop a high performing functional management team to support the operations

- Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.

- Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development, ensure that direct reports are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.

- Employ, engage and retain high quality people.

- Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.

Risk Management:

- Developing and ongoing measurement of key performance & risk based metrics which enable internal clients (Business, Product & Country Heads) which demonstrate effective governance and oversight of the CoE

- Proactive in seeing regular assurance that areas of responsibility are performing to an acceptable risk and control standard

- Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness becomes apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant committees

- Balance business performance delivery and cost management with risk and control matters to ensure that it does not materially threaten the Group remaining within risk appetite

Governance :

- Lead service review meetings with key stakeholders which measures CoE performance as defined in the Service Level Agreements

- Adaptation to changing internal and external needs (people, markets, skills, technologies)

- Embed the Group's values and code of conduct to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees form part of the culture

- Ensures adherence to local and Group policies and procedures and takes appropriate and proactive action where appropriate

Key Stakeholders: TB Product Heads (Cash, Trade, SS, Digital Channels), TB COO, TB Product COOs;
