KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities will be in the areas of providing inputs on specific projects or business problems faced by clients, people management, process-setting and research and development of new applications
Key responsibilities:
Project-specific:
- Work directly on projects and provide inputs on data quality, suitability of techniques, application of techniques to the business problem and interpretation of outputs
- Coordinate with analysts, domain managers, onsite managers and junior statisticians during project delivery to ensure accuracy and meaningfulness of statistical outputs
- Provide guidance to team on applicability of statistical methods to specific issues posed by client.
Process-setting:
- Guide team of analysts and business domain managers on setting up processes for application of specific statistical methods. Such processes will include the following
- Converting a business problem to an analytical plan.
- Data cleaning and preparation steps for each technique/ application.
- Help with running analysis on statistical software such as SAS.
- Help with creating quality control mechanisms/ checklists.
- Guide and monitor setting up of processes for new client teams.
Research & development
- Research new methods of analysis, suggest areas of analysis to the team, understand clients’ long-term analytics requirements and actively suggest methods to answer such needs
- Guide senior management on possible business applications of new statistical methods
- Be an overall thought/delivery leader across AQ for projects involving statistics.

- Strong problem-solving mindset. A desire to address the business problem, and not just to provide a statistical solution. Ability to translate business problems into analytical ones and statistical solutions into business solutions.
- Strong appreciation of the challenges of applying statistics to everyday business problems, willingness to use statistics innovatively to overcome such challenges.
- Creative mindset – willingness to go beyond the textbook while applying statistics in a business situation which typically entails less-than-ideal data quality/ quantity.
- Willingness to be hands-on while delivering projects – understanding the problem, finding a specific statistical technique to provide the answer, developing the best way to execute such a technique and working with others on the execution process to ensure accurate, error-free results that provide a viable answer to a business problem.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with project execution team which might have an uneven understanding of statistics.
- Exposure to wide variety of techniques, especially in areas of drivers analysis, cluster analysis, forecasting and pricing.
- Familiarity with classical as well as Bayesian approaches for creating predictive models.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 8-12 years of experience in applying statistical techniques in market research, CRM or other areas of work.
- Masters degree in Statistics/decision sciences or related discipline from a reputed university, Bachelors degree will also be considered provided other qualifications and skills are appropriate.
- Exposure to consumer and retail analytics.
- Good knowledge of SAS/ SPSS/R as statistical tools.
