Senior Manager Sourcing (Head) - Bulk Commodity Chemicals

- Accountable for complete Sourcing & Distribution of bulk chemicals in Liquid & Dry forms for meeting the Plant demands and also for the Trading business.

- Forecasting and Formulating Business, Pricing Strategy keeping cost low; Forecasting Price trends; Timely costing calculations and taking the strategic decision on raw material purchases.

- Basic understanding of taxation, import trends, forecasting pricing, Handling Legal requirements, Import - Export Regulations, Commercial Laws, Licenses and Trade Regulations, Inventory & Insurance Management.

- Develop a robust network of suppliers for a wide range of commodity chemicals.

- Stakeholder management with manufacturing and trading set-ups to ensure seamless procurement process.

- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to streamline the demand and supply.

- Negotiate prices, contracts, and favourable payment terms ensuring quality standards are maintained.

- Prioritise quick turnaround times for obtaining competitive rate quotations and ensure rapid responses to sourcing requests, expediting decision-making.

- Maintain an up-to-date market intelligence database with the latest supplier information.

- Develop, implement, and monitor procurement strategies, policies, and procedures for the chemical bulk business.

- Identify and address major cost drivers for each business, implementing strategies to mitigate cost escalation through effective negotiations.

- Track feedstock trends and conduct forward buying risk analysis.

- Implement cost-benefit analyses through negotiating quantity discounts and managing pricing through formulas.

- Drive initiatives like supply assurance, the development of alternate materials, identification of new vendors, and reducing import dependency.

- Oversee day-to-day operations of the procurement department to align with business requirements and drive cost optimization and sustainability.

- Collaborate with Technical and Production teams to develop alternatives for raw materials.

- Actively manage the supplier portfolio to strengthen partnerships, continuously assess supplier performance, and optimize value for money.

- Ensure high compliance with policies and government regulations.

- Cultivate an innovative culture of continuous process improvement.

Qualification And Experience:

1. Should have 10+ years of experience in Commodity Chemical Sourcing with a Chemical Industry or in a trading or distribution set up.

2. Strong sourcing experience and knowledge about vendors.

3. Strong negotiation skills and excellent knowledge of international pricing.

4. Proficient in using procurement tools like SAP MM or any other ERP system.

5. Exposure to Ariba, e-auctions, Advanced Excel, or Power BI.

6. In-depth knowledge of supplier and material analysis methods, contract language, compliance requirements, and financial risk.

7. Ability to develop and execute business continuity/strategic plans to achieve financial targets.

8. Proven track record of building exceptional collaborative relationships with suppliers, contractors, and colleagues.

9. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
