About the Company:

The New Shop is India's largest convenience store chain, operating a franchise network of 24-hour open convenience stores strategically located in high-density areas such as neighborhoods and transit hubs. With a rapidly expanding footprint, adding 1 store a day, the company aims to open 10,000 franchised stores by 2030. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Category Management to join our team and drive our brand partnerships and category strategies. Should have network with CXOs, Head of ecommerce/brand heads of FMCG brands.

We want a highly spirited and smart sales expert with experience in FMCG retail / ecomm and a go getter attitude. A solo performer, who's an achiever from Day1. We won't build a large team here, they will have to be an independent performer and should be ok dealing with the hectic and chaos of the startup world + should have credibility with fmcg companies.

We prefer to hire people who are intrapreneurs.

Job Description:

As the Head of monetization, you will play a critical role in building and managing strong relationships with FMCG brands, securing the best marketing deals for our offline stores. You will be responsible for optimizing the product assortment, negotiating placement fees and marketing deals, and driving category growth. This role requires a go-getter with a deep understanding of the retail/FMCG industry, a passion for convenience retail, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.

Responsibilities:

Drive bottom-line improvement and achieve budgeted sales targets.

Ensure healthy product availability through effective range planning, promotional strategies, and seasonal/SSO skus.

Generate additional income by selling assets for visibility and quantity purchase schemes.

Ensure 100% compliance of sold space to brands' requirements.

Reconcile vendor accounts with the finance team on a regular basis.

Plan Joint Business Plans (JBP) with top business partners, review progress, and foster mutual growth.

Rationalize assortment and plan range expansion based on competition, demand, and profitability.

Monitor and benchmark quality, pricing, consumer activities, and market trends against competitors.

Design and execute monthly promotional calendars to offer the best deals and ensure effective implementation.

Maintain effective buying practices and compliance adherence.

Supervise retail allocations and replenishment to optimize stock cover.

Implement standard operating procedures for damage and expiry management.

Ensure visual merchandising adheres to agreed norms.

Review relevant reports to understand business performance and make data-driven decisions.

Qualifications and Desired Skills::

- 8-10 years of work experience in monetization through brand partnerships, category management, buying, FMCG, or retail, preferably in a fast-growing organization.

- Postgraduate degree from a reputed college is preferred.

- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with FMCG brands at a national level.

- Proven track record of achieving budgeted sales targets and improving bottom-line performance.

- Excellent analytical abilities with proficiency in generating and analyzing sales, fill rate, stock cover, COGS, and damage/expiry reports.

- Strategic mindset with the ability to identify market trends and consumer behaviors.

- Demonstrated experience in range planning, assortment rationalization, and promotional calendar design.

- Strong vendor management skills and ability to build mutually beneficial partnerships.

- Knowledge of visual merchandising principles and implementation.

- Ability to thrive in a high-stress, unstructured, and fast-paced startup environment.

- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
