Strategic research input:

- To provide the Country Director and project leads in India with strategic research support for business development, project design, implementation, donor relations, monitoring pre-testing and impact assessment of Organisation's work in India.

Leadership of the research team in India:

- To manage the research team of approximately six staff. This includes recruiting, managing and training research staff in India and tracking budgets for research staffing across projects.

- This will also involve managing research staff while working in close consultation with the Research & Learning team in London, and with external entities including research agencies, donors, media partners, academic institutions and NGOs.

Research delivery:

- To ensure the quality of research design, implementation and analysis for all research projects.

- To ensure that all projects are completed to time, budget and quality benchmarks.

- To oversee the commissioning of audience research, in coordination with production and broadcast/ implementation schedules, negotiating and liaising with research agencies.

- To work with key users of research to ensure that research is suitable to meet project and creative teams- needs and donor requirements.

- To oversee the implementation and delivery of audience research to ensure its quality and completion within budget and deadline requirements.

- To provide suitable support and guidance in managing contracted agencies during research implementation.

Representing research:

- To liaise with and represent the organisation nationally and internationally to a range of stakeholders including donors, partners, research firms, academic institutions, NGOs, media and government counterparts.

Communicating and disseminating research:

- To communicate clear insights from research to non-technical audiences.

- To ensure that research informs project and creative teams- work by disseminating insights from research.

- To be responsible for global dissemination of findings through publications, presenting at international conferences and other forums.

Research innovation:

- To lead on the development of new approaches and methodologies, particularly during business development and project extension phases.

- To lead on wider evidence of the contribution of media and communications to development outcomes and liaise with the global R&L team to search for opportunities to contribute learning from India to global learning as well as applying learning from wider fields to the India research programme.
